Tornado nod tops 5 best food and drink events in Fort Worth this week

Reata will mark the 25th anniversary of the downtown tornado with a throwback menu.
Two big anniversaries happen this week: one for a Fort Worth brewery and one when a tornado changed a downtown restaurant forever. Both will mark the occasions this week. There's also a French wine tasting on a neighborhood grocer patio, and a cooking class perfect for beginner home cooks.
Tuesday, March 25
Left Coast Cellars 4-Course Wine Dinner at Winewood Grill
Left Coast Cellars founder Suzanne Larson will visit the Grapevine steakhouse for this four-course pairing dinner. Guests will partake in dishes like grilled peach and burrata with pinot blanc, sea scallops and parmesan risotto with chardonnay, akaushi ribeye with pinot noir, and cheesecake and berries with carbonic wine. The dinner is $94 before tax and gratuity and begins at 6 pm.
Barrel-Aged Beer Dinner at Martin House Brewing Company
Kicking off Martin House’s weeklong 12-year anniversary is this beer pairing dinner featuring four courses from Oh Balls food truck. Menu highlights include burrata salad, filet crostini, and bananas foster panna cotta. Each course will be paired with a different barrel-aged brew. The dinner is $60 and begins at 7 pm. throwback brewery tour on Thursday and 12- Year Anniversary Party on Saturday.

25th Anniversary of Downtown Tornado at Reata
On the night of March 28, 2000, everything changed for Reata restaurant, which was located atop the Bank One building downtown on the 35th floor. An F3 tornado struck causing catastrophic damage to the building and ultimately forced Reata to move. (Fortunately, no one was hurt at the restaurant.) Reata will bring back some beloved dishes from that year for one night to mark the milestone. (Word is wild boar and venison might be on the menu.) Visit for an evening of classic dishes.

Le Bon Vin - French Wine Tasting at Roy Pope Grocery
The beloved neighborhood grocer is fast becoming a social hangout thanks to events like this one on the patio. Sip wines from famous regions in France, including Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Loire Valley, during this mix-and-mingle tasting event. Tickets are $25 and include light bites. The event will run from 5–7 pm.

Kitchen Basics and a Chicken Dinner – What a Winner! at Hao’s Grocery & Café
Cooking classes are a hot ticket at Hao’s Grocery & Café. This one will teach essential basics including knife skills, recipe reading, cooking terminology, recipe scaling, and more. Participants will end the night with a roast chicken meal. Class is $55 plus gratuity and will run from 6–8 pm.
