New food truck park-farmers market dishes up BBQ and doughnuts to Azle
A food truck park has debuted just outside Fort Worth in Azle: Called The FeedLot, it's an outdoor dining experience located at 225 Church St., where it's open with a rotating selection of food trucks every Friday and Saturday.
The park is an initative from the city of Azle, to provide something fun and fresh, and it's already drawing crowds, says City of Azle Special Events Coordinatior Amanda Scott.
"We opened Easter Weekend, and we are getting repeat vendors requesting to be on the schedule every weekend," Scott says.
They usually have about three food trucks at a time, almost always with a barbecue option, featuring regulars such as:
- Wicked 3D Craft BBQ, home of the Wicked Brisket Burger
- R&N Smokin Sweet Savour BBQ, famous for their pulled pork sandwiches
- DonutNV, a mobile doughnut chain that makes mini-doughnuts to order
- Oh Baby Lemonade, an Azle-based lemonade stand
City of Azle Community and Marketing Specialist Kristen Pegues says they try not to schedule trucks with similar menus, so that customers can be guaranteed a variety, although one is a particular crowd-pleaser.
"If DonutNV is scheduled, there will definitely be a crowd," Pegues says.
The FeedLot is open weekends: Friday from 5-9 pm, and Saturday 11 am-9 pm. They'll be hosting live music in July. The space has a small outdoor stage, restrooms, seating, and ambient outdoor lighting.
The initiative keeps growing: On June 1, they added a farmers market, with about 24 local vendors. According to Scott, all sold out by the end of the day.
The farmers market will be on site — from 8 am-12 pm every first and third Saturday of the month through December — giving customers the opportunity to feast one day and get their share of fruits and vegetables the next.
