The ovens have been turned off permanently at La Madeleine Bakery & Cafe at Presidio Junction in far north Fort Worth.
"After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to close our Presidio Junction café as of March 17, 2026," reads an official La Madeleine statement sent to CultureMap. "We’re grateful for the support from our Fort Worth guests and team members over the years and look forward to continuing to serve the community at our other DFW locations.”
According to customers and personnel, the restaurant - at 8825 N Fwy. Service Rd E # 109 - closed without much notice in mid-afternoon Tuesday, March 17. Management posted a sign on the door that reads:
"Notice to Our Guests: This cafe location is permanently closed. We want to thank our guests and community for your support over the years. Unfortunately, this cafe location is now permanently closed. We truly appreciate your loyalty and the opportunity to serve you. If you would like to visit another location, please check our website or app to find the nearest cafe. Thank you for being our guest. - Management."
The closest location is in Grapevine, which, as those who live in the Presidio and Alliance area know, isn't that close at all. The remaining Fort Worth locations are in the Camp Bowie and Hulen/Overton areas of west Fort Worth - also not close enough for orders to-go.
According to the website, the Presidio Junction location of the Dallas-based French bakery chain had opened in 2016, part of an initial wave of restaurants at the wide-ranging retail development off Interstate 35 and North Tarrant Parkway.
It was a family-friendly spot, with board games for kids and books available in the bakery. It also catered to large gatherings and meetings, and had robust wifi and quiet rooms for remote working or studying.
In recent years, the area has seen massive growth, including an explosion of new restaurants that include Paris Baguette, a new bakery hot spot.
No word yet on what might go in La Madeleine's place.
