Fort Worth music venue and restaurant Post at River East about to close
A charming neighborhood spot on Race Street is calling it quits: The Post at River East, the restaurant, music venue, and event space at 2925 Race St., will close on February 29, after five years in the space.
According to a release, the venue reached the end of its five-year lease and it was decided not to renew. But don't lose hope: The owners are seeking a new location.
In addition, the Post's talent-buying and production partner, Afallon Productions, will continue to operate, presenting shows at other venues such as Fort Brewery, The Cicada, and Southside Preservation Hall, as well as producing other music-oriented events.
The venue was opened in 2019 by Bob Johnson, who'd previously owned Live Oak, a similar live music-restaurant-bar. It also had lease issues (the rent was too high), so Johnson and many members of the original team resurfaced at The Post, in a cool former post office vintage building from the 1940s.
The Post will remain open for normal hours until February 4.
Beginning on February 5, the venue will only be open on nights when there is a concert scheduled, and will no longer be serving food.
The last show at the venue will be on February 29 with local rock bands The Grae and Arenda Light.
