Dallas-based smoothie chain Smoothie King has launched a new menu of health-focused foods and is testing out the new menu in just a few select locations in Arlington and Fort Worth.
According to a release, 14 locations — 10 in Fort Worth and four in Arlington — will be first to test out the menu before a national rollout at the end of the year.
Adding food items marks a first for the chain in its 50-year history.
Called Power Eats, the menu features six items that aren’t any of the selection of snacks, protein bars, and smoothie bowls that might come to mind. These foods can be paired with the lineup of protein and GLP-1 smoothies, which were introduced in October.
Each of the items, ranging from protein boxes to toast, features high-protein options with premium ingredients. The menu offers these options:
- Hearty 8 Grain Loaded Avocado Toast: avocado spread over toasted eight-grain bread and topped with everything seasoning (8g protein)
- Hearty 8 Grain Loaded Chocolate Hazelnut Toast: chocolate hazelnut spread over toasted eight-grain bread, with blueberries and strawberries, then topped with Purely Elizabeth® granola (10g protein)
- Hearty 8 Grain Loaded Peanut Butter Toast: all-natural peanut butter spread over toasted eight-grain bread, topped with blueberries, strawberries, and bananas, with a drizzle of honey (13g protein)
- Fruit & Cheese Protein Box: almonds, cheddar, Monterey and pepper jack cheese, dried cranberry and apricot mix, and blueberries with flax and sea salt crackers (20g protein)
- Eggs & Cheese Protein Box: Two hard-boiled eggs, cheddar, Monterey and pepper jack cheese, strawberries, and blueberries with flax and sea salt crackers (26g protein)
- Chicken Skewers: Available at all test locations starting January 27. Two sous vide chicken tenders in salt & pepper or zesty garlic marinade with choice of buttermilk ranch, barbecue, or Boom Boom sauce (26g protein)
Prices are reasonable, ranging from $6 for a chocolate hazelnut toast to $7 for an egg and cheese protein box.
"We've set ambitious goals for 2025 that reflect our unwavering commitment to inspiring healthy and active lifestyles in communities across the country," says Smoothie King Chief Development Officer Chris Bremer in a statement.
