Colleyville gets on taco time with global fusion spot Tick Tock Taco

A new taco spot with a global sensibility is coming to Colleyville before the end of the year: Tick Tock Taco will open at 4605 Colleyville Blvd., serving a variety of fusion flavors, including Korean BBQ, tandoori chicken, and Baja fish - all with 100 percent halal meat.

The concept was created by husband-and-wife team Moe Arsalan and Anum Khan. Driven by their passion for food and desserts, the couple entered the hospitality industry in 2023 with Churro On Top, a whimsical, Instagrammable dessert shop in Arlington specializing in churros and milkshakes. They opened a second location in Richardson in 2024, followed by a third in Fairview earlier this year.

For the Fairview shop, they added Tick Tock Taco as a dual concept alongside Churro on Top.

While the new Colleyville spot will operate primarily as Tick Tock Taco, it will also offer a limited menu of traditional and loaded churros to meet local demand, they say.

The taco menu will mirror the Fairview location's offerings, focusing on its top 10 bestsellers:

Beef: Bulgogi, beef fajita, and brisket
Chicken: Fajita chicken, crispy chicken, and honey chipotle
Seafood: Baja fish and Baja shrimp
Veggie: Bean and cheese, and paneer tikka

The menu will feature signature items such as birria tacos. Individual tacos will be priced around $4, while the "YOLO combo" — three tacos, chips, salsa, and a drink — will cost $13.99.

Arsalan highlights the restaurant's halal certification as a key point of differentiation. "Halal" refers to the method in which the animals are slaughtered - one that focuses on humane treatment of animals, cleanliness, and acknowledging the value of life - according to specific Islamic dietary laws. A growing number of halal places have opened around DFW in recent years, and there are also non-halal restaurants who use halal beef.

“We are catering to a wider audience; there are not many halal taco options in the area,” he says.

The 2,000-square-foot space will feature an indoor dining area, patio seating, and a drive-thru.

In addition to serving lunch and dinner, the Colleyville Tick Tock Taco will open early to capture morning demand. After noticing busy breakfast crowds at nearby bagel shops and fast-food spots, Arsalan and Khan say, they decided to introduce breakfast tacos. The restaurant will operate from 7 am-9 pm daily, with extended late-night hours on weekends.

According to the website, the restaurant is eyeing a late October opening.

Long-awaited Mexican restaurant Vidorra sets opening date in Grapevine

Vidorra’s new Grapevine location will serve up a full lineup of tacos, sizzling entrees, and handcrafted margaritas.

A restaurant that the Grapevine community has kept an eye on for over a year has finally set an opening date: Vidorra, a "modern Mexican" restaurant, is opening at 700 W. State Hwy. 114 in Grapevine on August 31, according to a release.

The concept is from Dallas-based hospitality group Milkshake Concepts and owners Imran Sheikh, James Faller, and Asim Sheikh, who opened the first Vidorra location in Deep Ellum in 2018. Since then, the restaurant has expanded to three more locations across the Metroplex — Addison, Rockwall, and Grand Prairie — as well as one in Nashville.

Vidorra, which means "the good life," is known for its contemporary take on traditional Mexican dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and energetic atmosphere.

First announced in June 2025, the Grapevine location will serve Vidorra’s signature menu that includes aguachile, house-made guacamole, street tacos, sizzling fajitas, and enchiladas. Guests can also order the signature Parrillada en Fuego — an assortment of grilled meats and accompaniments served tableside in a sizzling 400-degree molcajete.

The beverage program will include handcrafted margaritas, an extensive selection of premium tequilas, and fresh seasonal cocktails. A standout item is a trendy Soft Serve Margarita, which combines a frozen margarita with creamy soft serve for a playful twist. During the week, Happy Hour will offer specials on margaritas, beer, wine, and select appetizers.

There's also weekend brunch, featuring chilaquiles, breakfast tacos, pan dulce French toast, handcrafted brunch cocktails, and tableside mimosas.

The location was most recently home to Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House, which closed surprisingly in February 2024, just a little over a year after it opened in November 2022 in a former Brick House Tavern & Tap, which closed during the pandemic. Way back in the day, it was a Romano's Macaroni Grill.

The new space will feature lush greenery, stone sculptures, warm lighting and expansive bar seating. There are also private event spaces.

“We’re incredibly excited to introduce Vidorra to the Grapevine community and open our fifth location,” says Imran Sheikh in the release. “Grapevine has such a distinctive personality, bringing together residents, travelers, and families throughout the year. We wanted to create a restaurant that feels equally welcoming whether you’re stopping in for brunch, meeting friends after work, or celebrating a special occasion.”
