Thursday, July 28
Rockin' the River: Zane Williams with Ray Johnston Band
We feature the Rockin' the River concert almost every week, but honestly, it's hard to beat the event for pure atmosphere and fun. This week, Zane Williams plays on the Coors Waterfront Stage first, followed by the Ray Johnston Band on the Southshore Stage, who will play right up to the nightly fireworks show.
Performing Arts Fort Worth presents The Book of Moron
No, that title is not missing a letter; this is not everyone's favorite Mormon musical. Instead, it's a one-man show from comic actor Robert Dubac, who brings satire that cuts with a clever edge, taking audiences on a hilarious joy ride over the pot-holed highways of cultural hypocrisy. The show plays through July 31 at McDavid Studio, next to Bass Performance Hall.

Texas Rangers Hall of Fame Luncheon
There have been many beloved players in Texas Rangers' history — Nolan Ryan, Pudge Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre — but Michael Young leads the way for a lot of fans. The shortstop/third baseman/all-around good guy is officially being inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame at this luncheon at the Arlington Convention Center, and he's being honored before the Rangers' game against Kansas City on July 30.
Magnolia at the Modern presents The Innocents
The latest in the Magnolia at the Modern series is The Innocents.Set in 1945 Poland, the movie follows a young French Red Cross doctor who is sent to assist the survivors of the German camps, only to discover several nuns in advanced states of pregnancy during a visit to a nearby convent. The film screens six times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Sunset Cinema: To Kill a Mockingbird
There may be no finer book-to-movie adaptation than To Kill a Mockingbird. The 1962 movie, which took home three Oscars, perfectly captured the essence of Harper Lee's novel, broadening its impact immeasurably. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art presents a free screening of the film on the museum's lawn, with food trucks on hand to feed the masses.
Improv Arlington presents Mo'Nique
Academy Award-winning actress Mo'Nique was fierce in her performance in 2009's Precious, but her career has otherwise been based on laughter. She starred in the sitcom The Parkers and on her own talk show, The Mo'Nique Show, and has continued to tour as a stand-up comedian. She performs four times over two days at the Improv Arlington.
Jubilee Theatre presents Smokey Joe's Cafe
The 35th season of Jubilee Theatre continues with Smokey Joe’s Café, the award-winning salute to legendary songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The jukebox musical features some of rock 'n' roll’s greatest hits, including "Hound Dog," "Stand By Me," "Yakety Yak," "Jailhouse Rock," "On Broadway," "Love Potion #9," "Fools Fall in Love," and many more. The production runs through August 28.
The Bellamy Brothers in concert
It was difficult to find anyone bigger in country music in the early 1980s than the Bellamy Brothers, as they racked up multiple No. 1 hits, including "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me," "Sugar Daddy," "Do You Love as Good as You Look," "When I'm Away From You," and more. They take a tour through their long and storied career at this concert at Billy Bob's Texas.

Jamey Johnson in concert
Singer/songwriter Jamey Johnson is just as comfortable mopping up the tears on the barroom floor with an old Hank Williams-style ballad as he is tearing the roof off with a honky-tonk juggernaut. The Alabama native rose to the top of the Nashville food chain through blood, sweat, and tears. You can witness his unique style at this concert at Billy Bob's Texas.

The Fashion Opera presents Fashion Arena: Jazz Cleopatra
Combining the elements of theater and fashion, guests at this event will be taken on a journey through the Roaring Twenties to explore events and movements that not only changed the face of fashion but also served as a launching pad for the rise of The Woman. The event takes place at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
