These are the 8 best things to do in Fort Worth this weekend
Mid-October brings another nice variety of events to the Fort Worth area, including a performance by a country music legend, an opportunity to get up close and personal with movie and TV celebrities, the start of a theater festival, a great air show, and two new art exhibits.
Once again, due to the continuing strike by the musicians of Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, their scheduled concert this weekend — The Beat Goes On!: Music of the Baby Boomers — has been canceled.

North Texas Community Foundation presents WORTHrepeating Launch Party
The North Texas Community Foundation will kick off year two of the WORTH philanthropy program with the WORTHrepeating Launch Party at Press Cafe. Attendees are invited to mingle with new and existing WORTH members and learn more about the young professionals group all while enjoying complimentary wine, beer, and appetizers.

In the latest example of appreciating music legends while you can, Texas' own Kris Kristofferson is playing a concert at Bass Performance Hall in support of his new album, Cedar Creek Sessions. The 80-year-old singer has been active in the industry for 50 years, becoming one of the most-respected and awarded musicians in the industry along the way.

Magnolia at the Modern presents Girl Asleep
In this vibrant portrayal of Australian adolescence, Greta Driscoll's bubble of obscure loserdom is burst when her parents throw her a surprise 15th birthday party and invite the whole school. Perfectly content being a wallflower, suddenly Greta is flung far from her comfort zone. The film screens six times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Dallas Comic Con Fan Days
As little as three months ago, the idea that a 12-year-old British girl would be the big star at Dallas Comic Con Fan Days would have been laughable. But then Stranger Things premiered on Netflix, and Millie Bobby Brown became the toast of Hollywood. She, along with the likes of Karl Urban, Christian Slater, Ian Ziering, Adam West, and Burt Ward, are appearing at the pop culture convention, taking place at the Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas through Sunday.
2016 Stolen Shakespeare Guild Classic Fest
The annual Stolen Shakespeare Guild Classic Fest features Molière’s Tartuffe and Henrik Ibsen's A Doll’s House in repertory. The festival, taking place at Fort Worth Community Arts Center, kicks off this weekend with Tartuffe, a French farce in which the title character wreaks havoc on a wealthy family. A Doll's House starts next weekend, and the two productions are alternating through October 30.

2016 Fort Worth Alliance Air Show
The Bell Helicopter Fort Worth Alliance Air Show is one of the largest civilian air shows in the nation, showcasing the country's armed forces, the local aerospace and aviation industries, and more. The 2016 show, taking place Saturday and Sunday at Alliance Airport, features the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Bell Helicopter 429, Shockwave Jet Truck, and U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet TAC Demo Team, among others.
Amon Carter Museum of American Art presents "Border Cantos: Richard Misrach and Guillermo Galindo"
This multidimensional collaboration between photographer Richard Misrach and artist-musician Guillermo Galindo examines the border between the U.S. and Mexico through a revelatory, humanistic lens. "Border Cantos" brings together Misrach’s often large-scale photographs with musical instruments that Galindo has created out of artifacts like clothing, shotgun shells, “drag” tires, and toys found along the border fence. The exhibit is on display through December 31.

Kimbell Art Museum presents "Monet: The Early Years"
The latest special exhibit at Kimbell Art Museum is the first-ever devoted to the young genius of Claude Monet. The exhibit features approximately 60 paintings from the first phase of the artist's career, from his Normandy debut in 1858 until 1872 — artwork that was influenced by friendships with other artists like Manet, Pissarro, Renoir, and Sisley. The exhibit is on display through January 29, 2017.
