Trinity Metro to reduce fare price for Fort Worth bus riders
Changes are coming for public transportation users in Tarrant County — including reductions in fare.
According to a release, Trinity Metro, the Tarrant County transportation agency is rolling out an array of changes to make taking public transportation simpler and easier-to-navigate. This includes fare reductions plus rebranding of certain lines.
The changes will begin on September 15.
Reduced fare
Trinity Metro is upgrading its fare system to make riding public transit easier and more convenient. They say that the new system will be simpler to understand and use, which they hope will encourage more people to use Trinity Metro.
Single rides for buses, trains and On-Demand will be just $2 for regular local services, and $1 for seniors, youth, and veterans.
One-day tickets will be $4, and $2 for seniors, youth, and veterans. 7-day tickets will be $18, and $9 for seniors, youth, and veterans.
Monthly and annual passes will only be available to EASYRIDE partners, the program that provides discounts to Tarrant County organizations.
Orange Line
The Route 15 Stockyards/North Main bus line will be rebranded as the Orange Line. It will offer extended weeknight service and stops at more downtown hotels. The bus will run from 5 am-1 am seven days a week.
The Dash and the following routes will be discontinued:
- 23 TCC Northeast Campus/TRE
- 28 Mansfield Highway/Sierra Vista
- 45 TCC Northwest/AngleAve/Azle Ave
- 66X Candleridge/Altamesa Express
On-Demand will fill the needs for those who rode the discontinued routes 23, 28 and 45.
Route 66X is serviced by routes 6 8th Ave/McCart, 52 Hulen, and 72 Hemphill/Sycamore School Rd. Route 5 Evans Ave/TCC South will increase weekday frequency to 15 minutes and weekend frequency to 30 minutes.
On-Demand
Current ZIPZONE services in Mercantile, Southeast, Southside and South Tarrant will be rebranded as On-Demand. Service hours and operations will remain the same. It's just a name change.
Additionally, Trinity Metro will launch On-Demand North Side and On-Demand TCC Northeast while also expanding On-Demand Southside.
