Piano Man to play final notes heard at Globe Life Park in Arlington
Piano Man Billy Joel will play the final show at Globe Life Park in Arlington, on October 12, 2019.
Joel's appearance as the last music act inside the home of the Texas Rangers was confirmed just a month after the announcement that Paul McCartney would perform the first concert ever there. This will be Joel's first visit to the area since he played at American Airlines Center in Dallas in January 2015.
A Ticketmaster Verified Fan Presale signup page on January 10 gave away Joel's concert date, upstaging a big announcement that was to have been made by the Rangers and presenter Live Nation later in the afternoon.
Joel will be playing at ballparks all over the country in 2019, including Chase Field in Phoenix on March 9, Miller Park in Milwaukee on April 26, Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on May 24, Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore on July 26, Coors Field in Denver on August 8, and Fenway Park in Boston on September 14.
“Billy Joel is an iconic artist and we are thrilled to have such a respected musician perform at Globe Life Park. The concert will create a legendary experience for baseball and music fans alike, especially as the final concert at Globe Life Park,” Sr. Vice President of Operations and Events Sean Decker said in a statement.
The date for the Arlington concert is an interesting choice, as it falls smack dab in the middle of the baseball postseason, offering up the possibility that Joel will have to postpone the concert if the Rangers make the playoffs.
The Rangers are expected to move into their new home, Globe Life Field, in spring of 2020.
