Weekend Event Planner
These are the 5 best things to do in Fort Worth this weekend
There may not be a ton of new events happening around Fort Worth this weekend, but the ones that are happening, are happening, if you know what we're saying. They include a symphonic film tribute, two fun concerts at Billy Bob's, and the unofficial start to baseball season.
Below are the best options for your precious free time Thursday through Sunday. Don't like what you see? Lucky for you, we have a much longer list of the city's best events.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents A Night at the Oscars
It’s all about music from the silver screen when conductor/host Damon Gupton leads the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in a program fit for the red carpet. The concert will include musical selections from The Godfather, Captain Blood, The Magnificent Seven, Pink Panther, and much more. There will be three concerts at Bass Performance Hall Friday through Sunday.
American Aquarium in concert
Alternative country/rock band American Aquarium may not be on your radar yet, but if they're being showcased at Billy Bob's Texas, chances are now would be a good time to jump on the bandwagon. They've collaborated with the likes of Jason Isbell and released eight albums in the last nine years, including 2015's Wolves. They'll play on Friday, January 22.
13th Annual Django Reinhardt Festival
French Gypsy Jazz musician Django Reinhardt, who died in 1953 at age 43, is acknowledged as one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He is so renowned that festivals are held all over the world in his honor, including this annual event at Arts Fifth Avenue, now in its 13th year. Taking place Friday through Sunday, it will feature film screenings, concerts, and tastes of French cuisine.
2016 Texas Rangers Fan Fest
Now that we've all had a few months to recover from the Texas Rangers' loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2015 playoffs, it's time to start getting excited about the 2016 season. The Rangers' annual Fan Fest will be held at Globe Life Park in Arlington on January 23, featuring autograph sessions with current Texas Rangers players and coaches; on-field events; tours; pitching, hitting, and fielding clinics; and more.
Ryan Bingham in concert
Americana singer Ryan Bingham is the member of an elite fraternity: those who have won both an Oscar and a Grammy for the same song. Bingham took home those honors for writing "The Weary Kind" for the 2009 film Crazy Heart, which also led to him receiving the 2010 Americana Music Award for Artist of the Year. Bingham will play at Billy Bob's on January 23 in support of his 2015 album, Fear and Saturday Night.
