Weekend Event Planner
These are the 7 best things to do in Fort Worth this weekend
This weekend's events around Fort Worth include music, movies, and outdoor fun. And now that the Trinity River has been deemed safe to swim in again following recent flooding, you can get back to enjoying all the activities it has to offer as well.
Below are the best options for your precious free time Thursday through Sunday. Don't like what you see? Lucky for you, we have a much longer list of the city's best events.

Rockin' the River: Dalton Domino with Austin Meade
Cool off at Rockin' the River, a free weekly summer concert series with a cool twist: the stage is right on the Trinity River, in the shadow of downtown Fort Worth. Float on the river or watch from the shore as Dalton Domino plays on the Coors Waterfront Stage and Austin Meade plays on the Southshore Stage, followed by a fireworks show.

Magnolia at the Modern presents The Music of Strangers
Fort Worth is no stranger to great classical music, something that the latest film in the Magnolia in the Modern series also celebrates. The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, playing at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth six times through Sunday, follows an ever-changing lineup of performers as they gather in locations across the world, exploring the ways art can both preserve traditions and shape cultural evolution.
The Stolen Shakespeare Guild presents State Fair
Set against the colorful backdrop of an American heartland tradition, State Fair travels with the Frake family as they leave behind the routine of the farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair. Mom and Pop have their hearts set on blue ribbons, while their daughter and son find romance and heartbreak on the midway. The musical, presented by the Stolen Shakespeare Guild at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center through July 24, features music by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.
Saturday, July 9
Rick Trevino in concert
Country singer Rick Trevino achieved mid-level celebrity status in the 1990s thanks to a trio of successful albums that included hits like "She Can't Say I Didn't Cry,""Bobbie Ann Mason," and "Running Out of Reasons to Run." Fans can enjoy his older songs and newer music at this concert at the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts.
Casey Donahew in concert
Burleson's own Casey Donahew has been on a slow but steady rise in the country music ranks, with each of his first three major-label albums charting higher than the one before it. With his last album, 2013's Standoff, reaching No. 7 on the Billboard country charts, anticipation is high for his forthcoming album, All Night Party, set to be released on August 26. Donahew will play at Billy Bob's Texas.
Sunday, July 10
Panther Island Pavilion presents Sunday Funday
With the water once again safe, guests at this event can enjoy activities like waterfront and paddleboard yoga; rentals of inner tubes, kayaks, and pedal boats; and more. Of course, you don't have to actually do anything to have fun; sometimes all you need is to sit back, relax, grab a cold beer from That's Amore, and let the day take you away.
