Fort Worth car show to raise funds for Puerto Rico hurricane relief

Boricua Strong Benefit, a fundraising event in Fort Worth taking place on October 20, will be both a celebration of Puerto Rican culture and way to raise funds and supplies for those affected by Hurricane Maria.
The festivities, taking place in the Foundry District at 2634 Weisenberger Street, will feature a car show with an array of exotic, vintage, and luxury cars. There will also be food provided by A Taste of Puerto Rico and Hazel’s Back Porch. Orlando’s DJ Marvin Zurrenda, representing Puerto Rico, and DeeJayX of Buenos Aires will provide live music. Guests can enter a raffle that will include prizes from Elite Ride Accessories and Benjy Built Garage, among others.
The event is being organized by, Angel Rosario, Jesus Mesa, and Stephany Mesa, who have deep Puerto Rican ties. They say in a release that they want to give North Texans the opportunity to celebrate and support the rich and vibrant Latino community while offering an outlet for direct support through nationally recognized organizations.
“Everyone has seen the devastation that the island of Puerto Rico is suffering through right now," says Rosario in a release. "Families have lost their homes, have no water, food, power, and the island is in a state of disaster. As a fellow Puerto Rican and a member of the car community of the state of Texas, I along with many others, invite everyone to put on the biggest benefit car show ever to help raise donations and supplies for Puerto Rico in this time of need.”
The benefit will feature a number of major brands that have direct ties to Puerto Rico, including A Taste of Puerto Rico, American Airlines Latin Club, and UNICEF. All monetary donations at the event will go directly to UNICEF.
Supply donations also will be accepted. Needs include baby formula, baby wipes, baby and adult pain relief medicine, blankets, bottled water, canned foods, canned and dry pet food, canned milk, cots, diapers, dish soap, first-aid kits, dry foods, garbage bags, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, mosquito repellant, pillows, and stomach and diarrhea relief medicine.
Boricua Strong Benefit will take place from 1-7 pm and will be family friendly.
