What a Bad Axe
World's biggest axe-throwing company carves out location in Fort Worth
For all those bad axes out there, there's a new axe-throwing spot coming to Fort Worth: Bad Axe Throwing, a company from Canada that's expanding across the U.S., is opening a location at 1200 E. Lancaster Ave., in a building previously occupied by Got You Covered Uniforms who moved to a building nearby.
According to a release, Bad Axe will open in March 2019.
Axe throwing has become a bit of a trend in the past few years. It originated in Canada and, similar to darts, paintball, or bowling, does not require you to be fit to participate. Its ice-breaking novelty makes it popular for first dates, group outings, and team-building corporate events.
Bad Axe professes to be the world's largest urban axe-throwing company, and why would you argue, since they are in possession of many axes. Founded in Ontario, Canada in 2014, they currently have 27 locations, including nine in Canada and 18 in the U.S.
They host competitive leagues, birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and team-building events.
Their first, and until now only, location in Texas was Dallas which opened in June 2018.
The Fort Worth location will be 8000 square feet — one of the chain's biggest locations in the country.
Company founder Mario Zelaya is also the founder of the World Axe Throwing League (WATL), the governing body of the sport of Urban Axe Throwing with members in several countries. This means that people in Fort Worth will be able to participate in axe throwing leagues and be a part of a competitive globally recognized axe throwing organization.
As is their custom, Bad Axe will host a free open house to share the axe throwing experience with people who are interested in trying it out, with date still TBD.
Bad Axe represents the third axe-throwing concept in the DFW. Flying Axe Factory was the first in Fort Worth, which opened a facility right off the Trinity Trails in February 2018; and Dallas Axe Throwing, which is actually located in Richardson.
