Innovative Johnny Cash show headlines 2023-24 Bass Hall concert series in Fort Worth
Performing Arts Fort Worth, owner and operator of Bass Performance Hall, has laid out a varied lineup of shows for its 2023-2024 BNSF Popular Entertainment Series. It features the return of a Fort Worth favorite, unique concert experiences, a variety of musical showcases, and a new show for the entire family.
The series kicks off on August 24 with the previously announced return of An Evening with Lyle Lovett and his Large Bandfor one night only. Lovett is no stranger to Fort Worth or Bass Hall, having played the venue every year - usually around the same date - since 2015, except during the pandemic.
Next up will be Johnny Cash – The Official Concert Experience on October 28 at Bass Hall. The multimedia celebration of the Man in Black uses state-of-the-art technology to lift Cash's iconic baritone from archival concert footage and recordings, enabling the late singer to perform his biggest hits with a live band again. The production also features never-before-seen footage and on-screen narration by Cash’s only son, John Carter Cash, other vocalists, and songs from Cash's contemporaries.
The Simon & Garfunkel Story, which came to Fort Worth in 2019, will return to the Bass Hall stage on March 21, 2024. Using huge projection photos and original film footage, it features a full live band performing hits like "Mrs. Robinson," "Cecilia," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Homeward Bound," and more.
The final event at Bass Hall in the series will be Bluey’s Big Playon March 23-24, 2024 a brand-new stage show based off the hit television series. The Heelers present their first live theatre show, featuring brilliantly created puppets.
The series is rounded out by the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band, which will be featured in two events at McDavid Studio. "Holidays with the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band, will take place on December 1, 2023 while the "UNT One O’Clock Lab Band Spring Showcase" will take place on May 3, 2024.
“We are so excited for this upcoming Popular Entertainment Series,” said Performing Arts Fort Worth President and CEO Dione Kennedy in a statement. “This 2023-2024 Series hosts longtime friends of the Hall and welcomes new acts sure to inspire and entertain audiences of all ages."
