These are the 14 best things to do in Fort Worth this weekend
It's a huge weekend in and around Fort Worth, and not just because of the number of events taking place. There will be three concerts featuring big-name stars, the regional premiere of a Tony-nominated play, a big rodeo event with performances from two music stars, a celebration of an iconic movie composer, a college basketball tournament, and more.

Fall Out Boy in concert
Over the past 20 years, Fall Out Boy has been one of the more successful rock bands out there, with seven top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, including four that went to No. 1. That includes their latest, 2023's So Much (for) Stardust, after which their new tour is named. They'll play all their hits and new songs at Dickies Arena.
Stage West presents POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive
It all starts with a little four-letter word that the President blurts out – and what starts as a PR nightmare, turns into a complete global crisis. The seven brilliant and beleaguered women upon whom he most relies risk life, liberty, and the pursuit of sanity to keep things under control. It’s a total rollercoaster ride as Capitol Hill turns upside down in this riotous comedy. The production, making its regional premiere at Stage West, will run through March 24.

Magnolia at the Modern: Four Daughters
The Oscar-nominated documentary Four Daughters is a riveting exploration of rebellion, memory, and sisterhood, reconstructing the story of Olfa Hamrouni and her four daughters, unpacking a complex family history through intimate interviews and performance to examine how the Tunisian woman’s two eldest were radicalized by Islamic extremists. The film, which is in Arabic with English subtitles, will have six screenings through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
The American Western Weekend
The American Western Weekend offers fans a unique choice - to cheer on western sports’ finest, champion athletes, or root for the underdog “Contenders” chasing a $1 million bonus – through every rodeo, roping, and riding effort. The weekend is also big on the music side, as it will feature performances by country music star Luke Bryan and rapper Post Malone. The event takes place on Friday and Saturday at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
Dan + Shay in concert
Country duo Dan + Shay have been at the top of the genre since their debut in 2014, an album that was appropriately titled Where It All Began. They haven't left those heights in their four subsequent albums, each of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Country charts, including 2023's Bigger Houses. That's one of the reasons why they're the first duo coaches ever on the current season of NBC's The Voice. They'll play at Dickies Arena.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents "John Williams Celebration"
John Williams may have done more to keep orchestras in the public consciousness than any composer alive. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will play a tribute to Williams with this special concert, which includes music from Hook, Superman, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and more. There will be three performances through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall.
Night Ranger in concert
Hard rock band Night Ranger first gained prominence in the 1980s thanks to hits like "Sister Christian" and "Sentimental Street." Even though they haven't maintained that popularity through the decades, they've still kept on putting out new music, with their latest album being ATBPO in 2021. With original band members Kelly Keagy and Brad Gillis leading the way, they'll play at Billy Bob's Texas.

Magnolia at the Modern: Anselm
It's a big documentary weekend with the Magnolia at the Modern series as they will also screen Anselm, Wim Wenders' portrait of Anselm Kiefer, an innovative and important painter and sculptor. Shot in 6K-resolution, the film presents a cinematic experience of the artist’s work which explores human existence and the cyclical nature of history, inspired by literature, poetry, philosophy, science, mythology and religion. The film, in German with English subtitles, will have three screenings on Saturday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents "Beethoven Lives Upstairs"
The "Beethoven Lives Upstairs" theatrical symphony concert is an imaginative way to introduce young audiences and their families to the life and music of Ludwig Van Beethoven. The concert features more than 25 excerpts of Beethoven’s music, including the Moonlight Sonata, Fur Elise, and the great Fifth and Ninth Symphonies. The morning performance, approximately 50 minutes in length, is recommended for audiences aged six and up. It takes place at Bass Performance Hall.
The American Women’s Basketball Championships
For the fourth consecutive year, The American Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be contested at Dickies Arena. It kicks off on Saturday with the Women’s Championship, featuring all 14 teams in the conference. One of the top seeds will be the University of North Texas Mean Green, which has already established a team record for most wins in a single season. The Women's Championship runs through Wednesday, which will the be the first day of the Men’s Championship.
Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks in concert
Two of the biggest names in music over the last 50 years will team up for a special co-headlining concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Joel, despite being one of the most prolific hit makers of the 20th century, has released relatively few albums in his career - only 14 since his debut in 1971. Nicks has been as proficient as a solo artist as she was as part of the group Fleetwood Mac, releasing eight albums on both sides. They'll both play all their hits, including Joel's first new song in 17 years, "Turn the Lights Back On."
Pecos & the Rooftops in concert
Named in part for the rooftop they often hung out on, Pecos & the Rooftops got its start in 2019, when the four original members met attending college in Lubbock. The area has long been known for its alt-country scene, but Pecos & the Rooftops are at the forefront of a new country rock scene. They'll play at Billy Bob's Texas in support of their 2023 self-titled album.

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents "Surrealism and Us: Caribbean and African Diasporic Artists Since 1940"
"Surrealism and Us: Caribbean and African Diasporic Artists Since 1940" is a thematic exhibition inspired by the history of Surrealism in the Caribbean with connections to notions of the Afrosurreal in the United States. With a global perspective, "Surrealism and Us" is the first intergenerational show dedicated to Caribbean and African diasporic art presented at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. It will run through July 28.
