Mid-Cities melts over grilled cheese trend with latest restaurant opening
The hotly anticipatedGrain & Dairy Gourmet Grilled Cheese is now open in Hurst, at 1222 W. Hurst Blvd., off East Loop 820. Dedicated to the comfort-food staple, the restaurant is owned by Josh Rogers, a Texas Tech graduate from the Haltom City area.
“Grilled cheese is something that just about everyone grew up eating, and there’s a nostalgia to grilled cheese that no other food can compare to,” says Rogers. “When you add gourmet ingredients to the cheeses, you have a recipe for deliciousness.”
There are 10 signature sandwiches, a variety of soups (think roasted tomato basil and chilled peach), salads, desserts, and sides. Vegan and vegetarian choices are also available.
A build-your-own option uses 20 local ingredients; 11 cheese choices; and six kinds of bread from a Dallas favorite, Esmeralda’s French Bakery.
Sandwiches include prosciutto and honeydew melon with havarti on sourdough bread; a caprese with mozzarella, Parmesan, tomato, basil, and balsamic vinegar on Milano bread; and the chopped veggie, with white cheddar, Muenster, asparagus, mushrooms, and caramelized onions on olive bread.
A variety of beers and wines, along with a selection of artisan sodas, help wash it all down.
