The Independence Day holiday is typically quiet for restaurants, and many take the opportunity to close their doors for a vacation day or two. But there are still tasty events on the calendar this week, from a summery French dinner pop-up to two educational wine classes. Stay active with two chances for beer yoga this weekend before the fireworks begin.
Wednesday, June 29
Virtual Rosé Wine Class Hosted by Tom Thumb
The North Texas-based grocer will host a complimentary virtual tasting on summer’s most popular varietal: Rosé. Tom Thumb wine guru Curtis Mann will talk through four Rosés, including Rodney Strong Rosé of Pinot Noir, Hampton Water Rosé, Fleur De Mer Cotes De Provence Rosé, and Miraval Rosé. While the class is free, the wine is not. The tasting will run from 6-7 pm.
Solstice D'été Dinner at Sugarman's
Meaning “summer solstice” in French, Solstice D'été is the name of this pop-up dinner hosted by Hao Tran of The Pantry, a new Asian-inspired dumpling restaurant set to open on West Magnolia Avenue by late summer. While dinner details are minimal, the multicourse meal will be served at Sugarman’s (the bar inside nearby Hotel Revel) and will feature French influences with each course paired with cocktails. Reservations are $120 per person and dinner begins at 6:30 pm.

Pinstripes Fort Worth BBQ Showcase
This 21+ patio party will feature a collaboration between Pinstripes and Cowtown Brewing. Summer barbecue-inspired dishes like pesto chicken, Chicago-style baby back ribs, and burgers will come off the grill and be served alongside mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, garden salad, watermelon, and more. Cowtown Brewery will pour a collection of their beers, and local musician Kendi Jean will perform. The event takes place 6:30-9 pm, and tickets are $45 per person.
Saturday, July 2
Bubbles + Beer + Yoga at Fort Brewery & Pizza
Will yoga for beer. That’s the idea behind this brewery and restaurant’s weekly Saturday yoga class, which comes with not one, but two craft beers or two glasses of wine. Prepare to imbibe early as the class, which is $20 per person, begins at 9 am.
Funky Picnic Beer Yoga
It’s the first Saturday of the month, which means Funky Picnic Brewery & Café will host a yoga class. The 45-minute session will take place in the brewery’s temperature-controlled taproom at 10 am. Tickets are $10 and include a beer or a $5 credit toward your tab after class. Bring your own mat.

Wine Shark at The Sleeping Panther
ICYMI: Downtown’s historic Flat Iron Building is home to its own bar and entertainment venue, located on the ground level. Called The Sleeping Panther, the space hosts weekly events include Thursday night comedy shows, Friday night burlesque after dark, weekend drag brunches, and Sunday afternoon wine tastings with food pairings. The latter is called Wine Shark, and the $50 per-person tickets includes five wine pours with bites served during an hour-long educational class led by a tenured sommelier. Class begins at 4 pm, and the ticket also includes admission to the Sunday night drag show at 7 pm and comedy show at 9 pm.

Independence Day at Fish City Grill
Go coastal without leaving Fort Worth on July 4 at Fish City Grill. The seafood destination will serve two Independence Day summery specials: shrimp boil for $16.99 and ceviche for $12.99. Wash them down with $7 watermelon margaritas and $8 Tito’s Front Porch Lemonades. The specials are good at all Fish City Grill locations in DFW, including Southlake, Mansfield, and Burleson.
