Chipotle opens restaurant in Fort Worth with special new drive-thru
There's a new Chipotle Mexican Grill opening in Fort Worth, with a feature that's almost brand new to Texas.
The restaurant, which opens on September 26 at 7100 Blue Mound Rd., will come with a drive-thru lane where you can pick up your order without leaving your car. Huzzah.
The company even has a name for it: Chipotlane.
This is the third Chipotle in Texas with a drive-thru pick-up lane. A Chipotle in Roanoke at 1347 US-377 that opened in summer 2019 had the first Chipotlane in the DFW area. It was the second in Texas; the first opened in San Antonio's Alamo Ranch neighborhood in February 2018.
According to a release, this is not a regular drive-thru window. You cannot order food at a Chipotlane. Ordering must be done online or via the app.
After you place your digital order, you get a notification telling you what time it'll be ready. Then and only then should you proceed to the drive-thru lane to pick up your digital order from the pick-up window.
The release says that, after all this time, Chipotle is adding drive-thru lanes because digital orders are at such an all-time high.
"We consider Chipotlanes an extension of digital-enabled convenience," it says. "We want to make it easier and more convenient for customers to pick up their orders."
Additionally, many customers now use delivery services like Uber Eats to get their Chipotle. "With Chipotlanes, our delivery partners will have a faster way to pick up orders and get them in the hands of hungry customers," the release says.
Hours of operation will be 10:45 am to 10 pm every day.
This Fort Worth store is one of eight openings coming this winter in Dallas-Fort Worth. Three will feature Chipotlanes, as follows, with tentative opening dates:
- 4200 Hwy. 360, Fort Worth. Opening mid-October.
- 8201 I-35 East, Corinth. Opening late November.
- 2427 Valley View Ln., Farmers Branch. Opening mid-December.
