Fun festival tops 5 best food and drink events in Fort Worth this week

Bedford Beats and Eats Fest arrives this week.
The holiday weekend brings an annual festival popular for its free live music and lengthy lineup of food vendors. But first, eat for a good cause in memory of a local radio legend, dine in the dark at a gourmet restaurant, then learn how to make pasta from scratch for upcoming holiday gatherings. Save room for sundae by Sunday.

Kidd’s Kids Fundraiser at Raising Cane’s
Chicken tender chain will donate $1 from every Box Combo — chicken fingers, fries, coleslaw, and toast — to support Kidd’s Kids, a nonprofit started by radio personality Kidd Kraddick (who passed in 2013) that funds trips to Disney World for children with life-altering or life-threatening conditions and their families. The fundraiser will take place from open to close at all Cane’s locations. The Grand Prairie location (3158 S. SH-161) will host a meet-and-greet with 106.1 FM’s Kellie Rasberry, J-Si Chavez, and Big Al Mack — Kidd's former radio family — from 11:30 am–1 pm.
Dining in the Dark at Chef Point Bar & Restaurant
Explore the senses during this three-course blindfolded dinner taking place at Colleyville’s Chef Point. Tickets are $50 ($10 will go to the Laurel Wheeler Foundation), plus tax and gratuity, and dinner begins at 6:30 pm.

Pasta Making Class at il Modo
Italian restaurant on the ground floor of The Kimpton Harper hotel downtown hosts popular hands-on pasta-making classes in their dedicated pasta-making room — and this week has rare openings. Light bites will be provided to enjoy with pasta sampling, and wine is available for purchase. The hour-and-a-half class is $80 and starts at 6 pm.

Bedford Beats and Eats Fest
Annual Labor Day weekend event boasts more than a dozen food vendors and a lineup of performers including headliner the Eli Young Band. Guests can peruse food options from street tacos and barbecue to orange chicken and lobster rolls, plus fair food like corn dogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes, and tornado fries. Admission is free, and the event will take place at Generations Park at Boys Ranch from 2–11 pm.
Sunday, August 31
Sundae Fun Day at Central Market Cooking School
Hands-on parent and child class will cover the basics of making the ultimate sundae, from baking the brownies as the base to toasting the nuts on top. Sauces to be made include hot fudge, strawberry compote, and caramel. Class is $89 (including fees) for parent and one child from 7 to 17 years old, and begins at 11 am.
