St. Patrick's Day is Sunday, March 17, and it's a big excuse to celebrate - whether you're of Irish descent or not. There are several opportunities to do just that this weekend with food and drink specials, an Irish-inspired afternoon tea, and a giant block party that's commemorating its 45th year. Also don't miss a cookie and beer pairing and a big birthday for a beloved barbecue joint.
Wednesday, March 13
Cookie Flight Night at Martin House Brewing Company
Four gourmet cookies from the Texas Cookie Company will be paired with four different Martin House brews during this sweet event. Girl Scout Cookie-inspired flavors will include dulce de leche with coconut, mint, peanut butter, and lemon pie. The pairing is $20 and will be available all day from 12-10 pm, but preorders must be in by Monday, March 11.
Relic Wine Dinner at Wine Thief
Owner and winemaker of Napa’s Relic Wine Cellars will visit the Omni Fort Worth Hotel wine bar for a four-course pairing dinner. Five wines will be served with dishes like bacon-wrapped shrimp with smoked pineapple relish, prime beef medallions with lobster potato au gratin, and ahi tuna tower with lump crab salad. The dinner is $190, plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 6:30 pm.
Beer & Whiskey Dinner at Social House
The West 7th District restaurant and bar has partnered with Real Ale Brewing Co. and Real Spirits Distilling Co. in Blanco for a beer and whiskey pairing dinner. The $50 price includes a beer flight plus two whiskey cocktails. Dinner begins at 6:30 pm.

Angelo’s BBQ 66th Anniversary
The iconic Fort Worth barbecue joint, led by third-generation pitmaster Jason George (his grandpa was the Angelo), opened on St. Patrick’s Day in 1958. The institution hosts a birthday celebration every year with green beer and Irish bagpipers. Since March 17 falls on a Sunday when the restaurant is closed, this year the party will take place one day early. Hours are 11 am-9 pm. (Expect the bagpipers to play during dinner service.)
45th St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at J. Gillian’s Bar & Grill
In Arlington, St. Patrick’s Day is synonymous with J. Gilligan’s annual block party. The time-honored bar and grill hosts a day-long bash that draws hundreds for live music, green beer, and those iconic Irish nachos – cottage cut skin-on fries with melted cheddar, bacon, chives, tomatoes, and jalapenos. Bring the kids early from 11 am-4 pm for face painting, balloon creations, and a bounce house. The party heats up with live music starting at 4 pm.
St. Patrick's Day at Thirsty Lion Gastropub
The Irish-inspired gastropub chain, which has locations in Euless, Dallas, Irving, and The Colony, will host two days of St. Patrick’s Day parties. All locations will feature Irish dancers, bagpipers in full regalia, giveaways, sampling, and menu specials both Saturday and Sunday. Featured drinks include the Irish Old Fashioned, Bailey’s chocolate espresso martini, and Irish Mule, the latter of which will donate $1 to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Menu specials include bacon cheddar potato cakes, traditional Scotch eggs, Irish shepherd’s pie, and whiskey Bing cherry bread pudding.
Cowtown Burger Showdown at River Ranch Stockyards
The third annual burger competition gives guests a chance to try some of North Texas’ best. Tickets start at $35 for general admission, which includes three tasting tickets, endless fries, beer, and a whiskey tasting. Or go VIP for $75, which includes four tasting tickets, appetizers, and an open Texas-centric bar. Tickets for children ages 6-13 are $15 and include two tasting tickets and endless fries. The event will run from 5-10 pm.

A St. Patrick’s Day Irish Tea at Indulge
Partake in a traditional afternoon tea service with an Irish twist at the downtown culinary studio, located in the recently revamped 3rd Street Market. The three-course menu will include roast beef sandwiches, Irish cucumber sandwiches, potato and cheese pastries, scones, shortbread, and other sweets along with Irish and herbal teas. The price is $65 and the tea service begins at 2 pm.
