Upscale steakhouse The Capital Grille to open location in Southlake
An upscale steakhouse known for its dry-aged steaks and high-end wine list is expanding in Tarrant County. The Capital Grille will open at 1201 E. State Hwy. 114 #100, taking over the space formerly occupied by soul food eatery Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles.
The restaurant is being led by the company’s managing partner Dwayne Carpenter, who lives in Southlake and has worked in the restaurant industry for 40 years. He’s planning to have the resaurant open in late May, according to a release.
“I am excited to share The Capital Grille dining experience with friends, neighbors, the entire Dragon Nation and beyond,” Carpenter says.
The Capital Grille is a national chain that was founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 1990. The company has about 70 locations across the U.S., with three in DFW in Uptown Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano.
The restaurant offers both surf and turf, but their steaks are the star of the menu. They’re dry aged in-house for 18-24 days to maximize flavor and tenderness, and then hand-carved daily.
Capital Grille’s wine selection includes more than 350 options, including library vintages and rare, limited bottles. The wines are held in a floor-to-ceiling temperature-controlled cellar with a capacity of more than 3,000 bottles.
Their selections of appetizers and sides includes a blend of classic items with unique twists, such as pan-fried calamari with hot cherry peppers, lobster mac and cheese, and lobster and crab cakes. Desserts are made from scratch daily and include brûlée-style cheesecake and coconut cream pie.
At nearly 11,000 square feet, the Southlake restaurant is expansive, with room for a lounge, outdoor patio, and four private event spaces. The space is designed to feel elegant and modern, with chrome lions at the entrance, a wall of clocks, and contemporary art to represent the Southlake community.
