Korean fried chicken has landed in Arlington: Bonchon, the global Korean fried chicken chain, has opened a new fast-casual restaurant at 300 E. Front St. near the Levitt Pavillion in Arlington.
Founded in South Korea in 2002, Bonchon first opened in the U.S. in New York City in 2006. Bonchon is headquartered in Dallas. Known for its hand-battered, double-fried, crazy crispy Korean fried chicken, Bonchon has more than 400 restaurants across eight countries. This is the sixth Bonchon location in North Texas.
Bonchon serves Korean food favorites including:
- Korean Fried Chicken - Wings, Drumsticks, Strips, and Chicken Sandwich with signature sauces of Soy Garlic, Spicy, or Korean BBQ. Korean Dishes - Bibimbap, Japchae, Tteokbokki, and Bulgogi
- Sides - Kimchi, Pickled Radish, Coleslaw, Korean Street Corn
- Korean Donuts - Two traditional soft and fluffy Korean donuts coated with cinnamon and sugar on the outside, served with a sweet cream dipping sauce
The Arlington location is from franchise owners Victoria and Bobby Booker III, and is the third they've opened in North Texas within the past year. Their first location opened on Cheney Drive in Arlington Highlands last summer, and their second location opened on Mockingbird Lane near SMU earlier this year. They expect to open at least 5 more in the next several years.
"As a proud UTA alum, it crazy to go from cramming for finals to opening a restaurant down the street," Victoria says. "It’s incredibly personal and meaningful to bring Bonchon back to the community that helped shape me."
They'll be hosting a grand opening on Saturday, May 24 from 11 am-10 pm, in which the first 50 people receive Korean corn dogs.
