New coffee and wine bar chills out Fort Worth’s buzzy South Main
Chill Coffee & Wine Bar is opening in the old Coupe champagne bar space in Fort Worth.
Coffee and wine are picking up where champagne left off in Fort Worth's South Main Village: Chill Coffee and Wine Bar has moved into former Coupe champagne bar space, which closed last summer, at 314 S. Main St. Suite 110.
Chill will open to the public at 7 am Friday, January 23 - fulfilling the need for coffee as the extreme cold front moves in.
The shop is from University of Texas at Arlington graduates Hieu Pham, Long Nguyen, Thao Dang and Henson Ly, who formed a friendship a decade ago while working together in hospitality. This is their second Chill location after their debut in North Arlington in 2022.
“We want to be part of the community,” Pham says. “It makes us happy to see customers come in, relax, have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine."
Coffee
On the coffee side, they serve single origin from Vietnam, roasted locally in Richardson. While they offer traditional drinks, their most in-demand options are their specialty coffees that incorporate a flavored foam, they say. Popular varieties include Chill Crème Brûlée Coffee, Ube Latte, as well as their matcha and chai.
They also offer blended drinks such as Nutella, Mocha and Coconut. Specialty and blended drinks run $5-$6.
Some of the partners frequently return to Vietnam, where their families are from, to discover new trends and bring them back to inspire the menu. That influence shows up in inventive drinks like the Himalayan Lavender Latte and the Charcoal Honey Latte.
Wine
Chill's wine menu is diverse and updated every couple of months, they say. They offer rotating wine selections - both by the glass and by the bottle - from Texas, California, Argentina and Australia, among others.
Food
You can't have drinks without eats, and for these, they partner with Grapevine-based Main Street Bakery for a seasonal menu of croissants, muffins, and Danishes. They also offer a variety of toasts, such as avocado, berry, peanut butter, and banana ($5), and smoked salmon ($8).
They also offer a build-your-own charcuterie plate, with an assortment of cheese and meats for $7 to $9 per item, paired with complimentary fruits and nuts.
Concept and design
Their concept is in the name, "Chill." They owners say they're all about making patrons feel relaxed and comfortable, with a clean, modern, and homey approach. The space looks similar to the Arlington shop, with modern metal and wood designs, and bamboo walls (the Arlington location has bamboo ceilings).
The partners attribute the success in their first location in Arlington to the support of the community, which motivated them to continue to expand into Fort Worth.
“When we started, we were a bit unsure of ourselves, but the feedback from our customers reassured us we were on the right track," Pham says.. "We are excited to continue our growth in Fort Worth.”
Chill on South Main will host a grand opening on Friday, January 23 that will include $3 coffee drinks all day. Regular hours will be 7 am to 9 pm daily.
