Founded in California in 1983, First Watch specializes in breakfast, brunch, and lunch with dishes such as Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, Breakfast Tacos, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Chickichanga, and their Quinoa Power Bowl.
One of their trademarks is a fresh juice bar featuring their signature Morning Meditation drink made with orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar, and beet.
They also make a big deal about their bacon, which is smoked and baked with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne, and maple syrup. Here's an idea: vegan bacon.
They serve Project Sunrise coffee, grown by independent groups of women farmers in South America
Like all of these breakfast-brunch chains that have sprung up in recent years, First Watch has a serious cocktail program with creations such as the Blackberry Bramble Sangria (Merlot, mixed berries, apple, orange, and lime); and Cinnamon Toast Cereal Milk (coconut rum, cold brew coffee, coconut milk and agave nectar).
Five times a year, they issue a revolving seasonal menu with items such as Crab Avocado Toast, Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast, Elote Mexican Street Corn Hash, and Watermelon Wake-Up fresh juice.
Their dining rooms embrace an "urban farm" style combining the rustic feel of a farmhouse with the modern elements of an urban loft. That includes communal tables as well as patio and bar seating, and they are encouraging of diners to work remotely with free Wi-Fi as well as complimentary newspapers, which are these old-school like pieces of paper with "news" printed on them, which used to be popular in the 20th century.
First Watch is majority-owned by Advent International, a private-equity firm, and this is hardly their first location in town. There are 500 First Watch restaurants in 29 states, and that includes nearly 20 locations across DFW, such as Alliance, Mansfield, Watauga, Euless, and North Richland Hills. There is no First Watch shortage. However, this is the first one this far west and south into Fort Worth, and it will surely not be the last.
