With the start of September come tasty opportunities to explore Italian food and drink, partake in afternoon tea and sweets, and combine fitness with libations. Start the week with an all-day kick-off party celebrating the hometown football team.
Monday, September 1
TCU Football Kick-Off Party at Rex’s Bar & Grill
Rex Benson’s new hub for drinks, bites, and game-watching will kick off TCU’s football season with an all-day party. The owner of next-door-neighbor Ol’ South Pancake House recently launched brunch at his namesake restaurant, and he’ll open the doors early at 9:30 am to serve dishes like migas, steak and eggs, and smoked salmon avocado toast. Live music on the patio will start at 2 pm, and there’ll be vendors, drink specials, and face painting and balloon artists for the kids. The Horned Frogs take on the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill at 7 pm.
Thursday, September 4
Massolino Wine Dinner in Farena at Loews Arlington Hotel
The resort hotel’s signature Italian restaurant will host a six-course dinner featuring wine pairings from Massolino Vineyards in Piedmont, Italy. Executive chef Tony France will share Italian-inspired menu items including heirloom tomato carpaccio, poached red prawns with saffron arancini, taleggio risotto, linguine di mare, and prime beef filet with truffle. The dinner is $165, plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 6:30 pm. Complimentary valet is included.
Friday, September 5
Sunset Yoga at Lost Oak Winery
The Burleson winery will host an outdoor sunset yoga session to kick off the weekend. The $20 ticket ($35 for two) includes a glass of wine. Bring your own yoga mat. Class begins at 7 pm.
Saturday, September 6
BODYBAR Mat Pilates Class at Whiskey Ranch
Challenge your core strength and flexibility then reward yourself with a TX Whiskey cocktail during this Saturday morning mat Pilates class at Whiskey Ranch distillery. Tickets are $30 and class begins at 11 am. Be sure to BYOM - bring your own mat.
Saturday Afternoon Tea at Hao's Grocery & Café
Sweet and savory treats served on vintage China are included in the afternoon tea service at Hao Tran’s namesake grocer and café. Tickets are $25 and seating times are 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm.
