This week's top food events include a little something for every palate: a deluxe dinner with big-name chefs, a chili cookoff, a taco pop-up, and a couple of spooky events, ramping up to Halloween. There's also a fun new event offered by the Fort Worth Opera.

Wednesday, October 23
Fête of Four Seasons
Hosted by the Fort Worth Food + Wine Foundation (the folks behind the annual Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival held in the spring), this four-course dinner will feature cuisine from four local chefs: Antonio Votta (Bricks and Horses), Preston Paine (Emilia’s), Deborah Williamson (James Provisions), and Tim Prefontaine (The Fort Worth Club, where the event will take place.) Courses range from Maine lobster with corn brulee to lamb and dumplings and yuzu olive oil cake. A cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres and wine pairings with dinner are included in the $195 price. The event begins at 6 pm.
Nickel & Nickel Wine Dinner at B&B Butcher’s & Restaurant
Napa Valley’s Nickel & Nickel wines will be featured during this five-course wine dinner at B&B. Menu items include grilled octopus, grilled garden salad, braised lamb with creamed polenta, Wagyu tenderloin with barley risotto, and brie en croute with blackberry compote. Dinner is $195, plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 6:30 pm.

A Taste of Opera
This new Fort Worth Opera event will feature cocktails and bites from local chefs along with performances by the opera’s Hattie Mae Lesley Young Artists. Tickets are $100 and support the Children’s Opera Theater. The event will take place from 6–9 pm at 4167 Charron Ln.
A Night in Casablanca at Keller Chophouse
The Old Town Keller steakhouse will host a four-course Moroccan-themed dinner paired with live music and belly dancing. Menu highlights include pastilla, eggplant, carrot, and cucumber salad, lamb, and baklava with mint tea. Dinner is $59, plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 6 pm.

8th Annual Fort Worth Firefighters Chili Cook-off
More than 20 Fort Worth fire stations (include a few out-of-towners) will prepare their best chili recipes in three categories – red, green, and non-traditional – during this annual cook-off taking place downtown in General Worth Square. Peruse the decorated booths (there’s a contest for the best) while sampling them all. Admission is free, and tickets ($1 each) can be purchased for chili samples (one ticket) or chili by the bowl (five tickets). Beer is also for sale for three tickets. Proceeds benefit Fort Worth Firefighter Charities and the event will run from 10 am–2 pm.
Booery at the Brewery at Martin House Brewing Company
Riverfront brewery’s annual Halloween party will feature the release of three taproom exclusive brews: The Ghost of Paul whiskey and wine barrel-aged sour, Chamoy Peach Rings peach sour, and Awesome Sauce Passionfruit Pineapple seltzer. There’ll be costume contests for adults, kids, and animals (starting at 2:30 pm), live music, food trucks, and vendors. A $20 wristband is good for a pint glass and four pours. Admission is free and the party will run from 12–5 pm.
Caliscience Pop-Up
Ttend-setting taqueria, which sadly closed its brick-and-mortar location on Race Street in February, returns for a one-day pop-up. Taking place at Prime Time Heating and Air (2714 SE Loop 820) the event will trot out their retired food truck for a greatest-hits menu featuring tacos dorados ($16), ramen ($12), and street tacos ($10), plus a seasonal cuatro leches pumpkin cake ($6), and strawberry horchata ($5). Available 12 pm until sellout.
Costumes & Cocktails at TX Whiskey Ranch
The home of TX Whiskey will host its annual Halloween event featuring a costume contest, DJ music, food trucks, ax throwing, and more. The $15 ticket price includes admission and one cocktail. The party will run from 1–4 pm with the costume contest set for 3 pm.
Whiskey Masterclass with Dr. Don Livermore
Very special masterclass at Whiskey Castle in Hurst with Dr. Don Livermore, the Master Blender of Hiram Walker & Sons Limited in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He is flying in from Canada to cover JP Wiser’s Canadian whiskies & Lot 40 Canadian ryes. There will be special whiskies for education, food pairings, and door prizes. This class is suitable for all levels of whiskey experience from beginner to advanced. It's $60 and runs from 7-10 pm at 173 W. Harwood Rd.; tickets are online.

Red Steagall Chuck Wagon Cook-Off
The 33rd Annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering takes place Friday through Sunday in the Fort Worth Stockyards, and part of the event lineup – which includes ranch rodeos, cowboy poetry, live music, a Western swing festival, and more – is an authentic chuckwagon cook-off. On Sunday starting at 12:30 pm, visit to see cowboys and cowgirls use only trail driving era cooking supplies to compete for the best coal-fired meals. A team of judges will determine the winner, but passers-by can get a glimpse and maybe a sample or two.
Boo-Rito Eating Contest at El Chingon
Part Mexican restaurant, part bar and nightclub, El Chingon will host a hot-as-hell ghost pepper “boo-rito” eating contest just in time for Halloween. Contestants will aim to finish the five-pound burrito in less than 30 minutes, with first, second, and third place to win prizes like gift cards and bottle service. Check in begins at 4 pm before the contest starts at 4:30 pm. Entry is free.
