One of the first fall-themed events of the season arrives this week in the form of an autumnal Sunday afternoon tea service. Area libraries are also highlighted for not one, but two different cooking class opportunities. But first, learn how to make vodka cocktails from the experts, and drink pink for a good cause at a locally-owned grocery.
Wednesday, September 4
Original ChopShop Grand Opening
Original ChopShop, a fast-casual chain known for its bowls, salads, and sandwiches, will celebrate the grand opening of its first Fort Worth restaurant, at 2960 Amador Dr. in Alliance Town Center, from 10 am-9 pm. The first 50 guests will receive a ChopShop tote bag, and 10 percent of opening-day proceeds will go to Mental Health America of Greater Tarrant County. More than Pink Walk Team Kick Off at Roy Pope Grocery
The neighborhood grocery and wine bar will host a sign-up session for the Susan G. Komen More Thank Pink Walk taking place October 5. Enjoy complimentary light bites, $5 glasses of wine, and $5 Froses. All bottles of pink wine will also be 10 percent off. The event will take place from 4:3-7:30 pm.
Mushroom Street Farms Cooking Demo at the Fort Worth Public Library - Northwest
The Arlington-based urban micro farm – which cultivates gourmet mushrooms – will share their mushroom expertise during this educational cooking demonstration. The event will take place from 6-7:30 pm and is free to attend with registration. (The event will also take place at the Southwest Regional branch on September 10.)
Crafted Cocktails Mixology Series at Kimpton Harper Hotel
Thursday means it’s time for this downtown Fort Worth hotel’s popular weekly cocktail class, which typically fills quickly. This week’s session will teach participants how to concoct two cocktails with Tito’s vodka. The $55 ticket, plus tax and a small service fee, also includes a glass of bubbly upon arrival, light bites, and 24th-floor views. Class will run from 6:30-8 pm.

Taste of East Series
“East” refers to the East Library and Recreation Center in Arlington, which has launched a lineup of hands-on cooking classes. The first will cover Mexican-style tamales. The class is $15 and will run from 9 am-12 pm.

Afternoon Tea: Autumn in the Air at Central Market
The Fort Worth Central Market Cooking School its first fall-focused event of the season – this one with no cooking required. Sit back and relax with afternoon tea service, which will come with fall-themed dishes like savory fig diamonds, cucumber and pear tea sandwiches, kale and sausage tartlets, goat cheese and chive scones with clotted cream and seasonal jam, cranberry and walnut tartlets, and snowball spice cookies. The $70 ticket price also includes a glass of wine, along with tips for hosting tea service at home. The event will run from 4-5:30 pm.
