It’s the season for sipping wine, and this week’s events prove it. From a rose tasting and wine glass class to a sip-and-shop pairing bubbly with Parisian perfumes, wine takes center stage. It’s also the 100th birthday of an iconic Napa winemaker, and a local gourmet grocer will celebrate with a free tasting of his wines at all store locations. Finally, end the holiday weekend with a pop-up brunch and a tasty, musical event.

Rosé All Day at 3 Vino
The Roanoke wine bar and bottle shop will pour rosés all day during this “drink pink” wine tasting. The $25 price includes five tastings of rosé along with a cheese board. Visit anytime from 3:30-8 pm.

National Wine Day Riedel Glass Tasting at Hotel Vin
The downtown Grapevine hotel will host a wine education class that will highlight the importance of wine glasses. Participants will taste four wines, each served in varietal-specific glassware by Riedel. Sip and see how wine glasses can affect the wine tasting experience. The tasting is $35, or pay $100 to take home the whole Riedel wine glass set. (Prices do not include tax or a small service fee.) The tasting will run from 6-7:30 pm, and check-in begins at 5:30 pm.
Champagne Showers Bring May Flowers at The Kimpton Harper
The downtown hotel will host a perfumed pop-up in partnership with luxury Parisian fragrance house, Diptyque. Guests can sip bubbly and floral-themed cocktails paired with light bites while perusing the perfumery’s latest products, including their newest scent of the season. The event is complimentary with an RSVP to jvielhauer@pivothotels and will run from 6-8 pm at Refinery 714, the hotel’s 24th floor bar.

John Wayne Day in the Fort Worth Stockyards
Celebrate the Duke’s birthday with coffee and cocktails at John Wayne: An American Experience in the Fort Worth Stockyards. From 9 am-3 pm, the museum dedicated to the iconic actor will share complimentary cookies and samples of Gold Handle Coffee, named for the gold-handled coffee mugs Wayne would give the cast and crew of his movies. Or visit starting at 4 pm for a ticketed private party that comes with cocktails made with Duke Spirits, bandana embroidery, hat branding, and appearances by members of the Wayne family, including his children. Tickets are $41.95 and the event will run from 4 – 7 pm.

Grgich Hills Wine Tasting at Central Market
The gourmet grocer will celebrate the 100th birthday of Mike Grgich, the legendary California winemaker who established Grgich Hills Estate and is recognized for putting Napa Valley on the wine world’s map back in the 1970s. Visit starting at 12 noon for a complimentary tasting featuring Grgich’s wines, including a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Chardonnay, and a Sauvignon Blanc. The tasting will be available at all Central Market stores.

Gnocchi Dokie Pop-up Brunch at Rancho Loma Vineyards
Following a pasta-making class there on Thursday, Gnocchi Dokie chef Ryan Fussell will return to the Near Southside winery to serve a special brunch. The menu will include Mama Kat's Honey & Buttermilk Biscuits, Piccata-Lox Devlied Eggs, Red Velvet Ricotta Gnocchi n Creme, Brunch Lasagna, Sunrise Sausage & Polenta. Cowtown Unplugged at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel
The Omni Fort Worth is offering an incentive to book a Memorial Day weekend staycation: the Cowtown Unplugged singer-songwriter concert and foodie event. A VIP-package dinner before headliner Cory Morrow takes the stage will feature coffee and peach smoked buffalo brisket, honey habanero glazed pork spare ribs with cheddar blue grits, and Texas spiced chicken with smoked gouda mac and cheese. All packages include a Texas-themed breakfast buffet the next morning, including made-to-order breakfast skillets with brisket and green chili pulled pork.
