Hurtado Barbecue owner to open Tex-Mex restaurant at Arlington stadium

Loma will open in Choctaw Stadium in spring 2026.
A new Tex-Mex restaurant from the owner of BBQ fave Hurtado Barbecue is coming to Arlington: Called Loma, it will debut this spring in Choctaw Stadium, aka the former home of the Rangers.
Owner Brandon Hurtado says Loma, which takes its name from the Spanish word for the pitcher’s mound, will take over the space at 1011 Nolan Ryan Expy. that was formerly occupied by the short-lived outpost of Houston Tex-Mex favorite El Tiempo Cantina. Choctaw Stadium - formerly Globe Life Park, across the street from Globe Life Field - is headquarters for sports teams Arlington Renegades and Dallas Jackals.
With Loma, Hurtado hopes to bring an “elevated Tex-Mex restaurant” to Arlington, something he says the city doesn’t have right now.
“I’ve always wanted to open a full-service, elevated Tex-Mex concept, and this was like the perfect opportunity,” Hurtado says. “I feel like it’s kind of in our DNA to do something like this because we’re so focused on hospitality at our barbecue restaurants, but it’s tough to do some of the things that we want to do in a fast-casual setting.”
Because Loma is taking over a space that formerly housed a Tex-Mex restaurant, Hurtado says he won’t have to undertake a bunch of construction to get the doors open.
“The Rangers were kind enough to leave all the furniture, fixtures, and equipment in there, so we just need to get the menu going and make it look a little bit like what we want Loma to be,” Hurtado says.
The restaurant is part of an ongoing partnership with the Texas Rangers, from whom Hurtado will lease the restaurant’s space. Since 2022, Hurtado Barbecue has served its smoked brisket nachos and other eats at Globe Life Field, and the restaurant frequently caters events for both the home team and visitors.
“The very first season that we had our sponsorship agreement with the Rangers, they went on to win their first World Series in franchise history,” Hurtado says. “I’m not saying that we were their lucky charm, but I’m not saying that we weren’t.”
When it arrives, Loma will serve a menu of Tex-Mex dishes, and as you might expect, beef will be a focus. Diners can look forward to sizzling platters of fajitas, including Wagyu fajitas, and other classic plates, along with a rotating lineup of chef specials, tacos, and weekend brunch. Hurtado says that he’s currently in the process of hiring an executive chef to lead the restaurant’s kitchen.
Hurtado has tapped Dallas bar veteran Christian Carrizales, formerly of The Woolworth and other popular waiting holes, to oversee the drink menu, which will include dramatic nitrogen-spiked margaritas and other craft cocktails.
Right now, Hurtado is working to get Loma open by Rangers' first game of the season, on Thursday, March 26.
