Mexican soul food restaurant Salsa Limon arrives in Arlington
Family-owned Mexican restaurant Salsa Limón, known for its Mexican soul food and "world-class tacos," is opening a location in Arlington — its very first at a mall.
According to a release, the chain will open at The Parks at Arlington, at 3811 S. Cooper St. #2156, on October 17.
"We are excited to launch the first mercado-style locale in one of the most bustling food courts in the DFW area," says owner Ramiro Ramirez, who founded the concept with his sister Rosalia in 2005.
The duo opened their first location in the middle of Fort Worth's "Mexican Town" in 2006, where they developed a robust following. They launched a food truck in 2010, when food trucks were just emerging as a big foodie trend; it turned out to be a massive hit.
They've gone on to open six neighborhood taquerias: four total in Fort Worth, plus one in Dallas and one in Austin.
Each location has a cute name. Arlington is dubbed “Parques,” and will feature the chain's "neon aesthetic," but with a Mexican market ambiance that hews to their roots in Oaxaca, Mexico.
The wide-ranging menu features traditional Oaxacan flavors, from their famous El Capitan taco to beloved breakfast burritos. In addition to the usual various meat tacos, they do a couple of cool vegetarian tacos including one with whole black beans, avocado, pickled cabbage, onion, and cilantro; and the Granjero with refried beans, rice, avocado, pickled cabbage, onion, and cilantro — both served taqueria style with double layered hot corn tortillas.
“Parques” will also serve a few new menu items including:
- Sopa de Tortilla - spicy beef broth, refried beans, mixed greens, cilantro, onion, lime, crispy tortilla strips, avocado, and crema.
- Chicken Rice Cup - it's a cup of their rice with chicken, sounds simple, is delicious
- Mini Burrito — with refried beans and cheese in a 6-inch warm flour tortilla
The restaurant will also offer location-specific surprises such as a seasonal menu and the first-ever, highly anticipated Salsa Limón dessert. They do not divulge what the dessert is, other than to hint it involves ice cream.
