Restaurant closure
Longtime Fort Worth Tex-Mex chain Pulido's shutters one location
Fort Worth restaurant chain Pulido's Kitchen & Cantina will have one fewer location by the end of the week. The doors to the Hurst restaurant, at 1224 Precinct Line Rd., will close for good at 9 pm Thursday, July 16.
Pulido's is owned by Fort Worth restaurant group Westland Hospitality, which posted the closure announcement on Facebook, saying:
"After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to close our Pulido's Hurst location ... Serving the Hurst community has been an honor, and we are incredibly grateful for every friend, neighbor, student, teacher, and longtime guest who made this location feel like home. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your meals, memories, and traditions."
They stressed that Hurst was the only location closing. All other Pulido's restaurants remain open.
Founded by Pedro and Dionicia Pulido in 1966, Pulido's is celebrated for its authentic Tex-Mex cuisine and family atmosphere. They grew the restaurant from serving Pedro's railyard coworkers to a Texas institution with locations in Fort Worth, Benbrook, Eastland, Cleburne, and Hurst.
After 57 years, Pulido's announced their closure in October 2024, due to challenges brought on by the pandemic.
Then the chain was acquired by the Westland group, which already owned Fort Worth favorites JD's Hamburgers, Margie's Italian Gardens, and West Side Cafe. (They've since added historic Roy Pope Grocery and the restaurant at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden to their portfolio.)
Westland managing partner Bourke Harvey, who spearheaded the Pulido's venture, said in 2022 that it was a natural extension of Westland's core values.
"Celebrating and sustaining the rich culinary traditions of the Fort Worth area is at the heart of what we do, and Pulido's is a significant piece of that history," Harvey said at the time. "Working closely with the Pulido family has been a privilege, and we have immense respect for the legacy they've built. We are committed to revitalizing Pulido's, ensuring its storied past melds seamlessly with a dynamic future."
According to the Pulido's website, there are now three remaining locations:
- 2900 Pulido St., Fort Worth
- South Access, 10051 I-20, Eastland
- 104 S Ranch House Rd., Willow Park
The owners say they still plan to honor the Hurst community.
"While our Hurst restaurant will be closing, our commitment to the local community will continue," they say in the closure post. "We will honor our existing commitments to support the education system and the people who have supported us so generously.
"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Hurst."
