Rise Southern Biscuits and Chicken will open first Fort Worth location
Award-winning biscuits and chicken are coming to Fort Worth, via Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken, a rapidly expanding breakfast and lunch concept from North Carolina that is making a splashy Dallas-Fort Worth debut.
The Fort Worth restaurant will open at 7064 Blue Mound Rd. in summer 2024.
According to a release, it's from husband-and-wife franchisees Ashwin Reddy and Isha Vedire, who are also opening a location in Dallas at Victory Park. These represent the first two of 20 Rise locations the couple has planned for DFW.
"As a local owner, I am thrilled to bring the best-dang biscuits to Dallas," Reddy says in a statement. "I know this community will love the scratch-made Southern breakfast biscuits and Righteous fried chicken sandwiches at lunchtime."
Rise is open for breakfast and lunch and serves Southern Biscuits, Righteous Chicken boxes and sandwiches, sweet treats, sides, and coffee.
Their flaky buttermilk biscuits are made from scratch throughout the day and are filled with savory ingredients ranging from crispy bacon and sausage to fried green tomatoes and their famous Righteous Chicken.
Breakfast boxes featuring grits and potatoes topped with proteins and sauces round out the breakfast offerings.
Lunchtime offering include the signature Righteous Chicken in a box with sides or at the center of many creative sandwich options where the chicken is sauced and topped, such as their sandwich with "Boom Boom" sauce and pickles.
Their signature side is Tots, in regular or Cheddar version. They also serve Counter Culture Coffee both hot and iced, and desserts such as a glazed blueberry biscuit and biscuit cinnamon rolls.
The release describes the concept as "tech-forward," with online ordering and pickup from heated food lockers that Reddy says makes the process fun and seamless.
But the restaurants will also include limited seating for in-restaurant dining.
Rise was originally founded in 2012 by Culinary Institute of American trained Chef Tom Ferguson in Durham, North Carolina. This is not the first time Rise has entered the DFW market. The concept premiered in Dallas-Fort Worth in April 2017 in Allen, back when it was known as Rise Biscuits & Doughnuts. It was rebranded in 2019.
Ferguson rebooted the concept, cutting back on the doughnuts and changing the name, which gave it a second life. Sadly, he died in 2022, but the concept has persevered, and currently has locations across North Carolina, Kansas, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, and California.
