Hoppin’ brings self-serve beer on tap to Fort Worth's Foundry District
An innovative beer bar is coming to Fort Worth: Called Hoppin', it's a self-pour taproom founded in North Carolina and is opening its first location in Texas in Fort Worth’s Foundry District.
According to a release, it'll open at 2608 Weisenberger St. on August 24.
Originating in Charlotte, N.C. in 2017, Hoppin’ has a high-tech system wherein customers can serve themselves, tallying their self-poured drinks and reducing time waiting for the server to notice you need another. There are currently three locations — two in North Carolina, one in South Carolina — with another handful teed up including one in Grapevine at 3540 Grapevine Mills Blvd. #100.
Hoppin’ Fort Worth will have 58 beers on tap, including local and international beers. There'll also be seltzers, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Snacks will include food trucks onsite Friday-Saturday. Hoppin’ is also partnering with Foundry District neighbor Maple Branch Brewery to deliver pizza throughout the week and on weekends.
Bringing Hoppin' to Fort Worth are husband-and-wife Michael and Holly Brittner, who discovered Hoppin’ when they moved to Charlotte in 2016.
“Hoppin’ is a fresh new take on a place to hang out," Holly says in a statement. "It’s unique because the self-pour concept keeps the bar from being too crowded. You can just walk up and get a drink yourself.”
They loved not only the self-pour concept but also the community feel, and decided to bring it to Fort Worth — specifically the Cultural District — after moving home to be close to family.
"The Foundry District has lots of potential and feels more like a more tightknit community than any other area we looked at,” Holly says. Hoppin’ joins several other retailers that owner Asana Partners has introduced to The Foundry District in recent months, with more on the way.
They'll host a grand opening on Saturday, August 24 from 12 pm-12 am, with live music and food provided by Gordo’s Mexican Cocina food truck 4 pm-12 am.
