Innovative new Thai restaurant from veteran chef debuts in Southlake

Thai in Town
There's a new place for pad Thai and more in Southlake: Called Thai in Town, it's an exciting new concept from a prolific Thai chef located at 410 W. Southlake Blvd. #160, where it softly opened in late March.
Thai in Town was founded by entrepreneurial chef Mia Singthin, who moved from the D.C. area to Dallas, and who previously founded two Asian fusion restaurants, Khao Horm Thai on Inwood Road and Sakhuu Thai, a well liked chain with locations in Flower Mound, Plano, and Richardson.
According to general manager Eve Veyroj, Thai in Town features some of the same dishes served at Singthin’s previous restaurants — but with some modern twists including bao buns and dishes such as Khao Yum, also known as "rainbow rice salad," and a specialty of Southern Thai cuisine that has become popular in recent years.
“With a loyal following and a desire to introduce a fresh new concept, chef Mia launched Thai in Town,” Veyroj says in an email. “It’s a modern take that preserves her signature high-quality Thai dishes while expanding the menu to showcase cuisine from all four regions of Thailand."
For Sakhuu fans — and there are many — Thai in Town has signatures such as pad Thai, panang curry, crispy duck basil, and duck roti, a round flatbread stuffed with crispy duck and vegetables, all found at Sakhuu.
But Thai in Town dedicates an entire section on its menu to outlining geographical specialties, with a helpful map that makes learning about the cuisine easy and informative.
From the north, there is khao soi/beef stew with Northern-style egg noodles. From the central area, there are fried tofu skin wraps filled with taro. From the northeast, there is spicy Isan sausage, and from the south, there is crab with rice vermicelli noodles.
"It’s the only Thai restaurant in DFW that brings together traditional dishes from all four regions of Thailand under one roof," Veyroj says.
Entrees top out at $25. They also have a full bar with cocktails, wine, and beer chosen to complement the bold flavors of Thai cuisine.
They've given the space — previously a breakfast spot, Another Broken Egg Cafe — a makeover that fits the menu.
“Thai in Town is designed on a grander scale — sleek, modern, and vibrant," Veyroj says. "Southlake was an easy choice for Mia. It offered the perfect environment to bring a vibrant new Thai concept to life.”
