Texas taqueria Torchy's Tacos brings top tacos & quality queso to Burleson
One of Texas' top taco rollers has landed in Burleson: Torchy’s Tacos, the Austin-based taqueria chain, opened a location in Burleson at 257 NW John Jones Dr.
According to a release, it opens February 15. Hey that's today.
In case you don't have their history memorized, Torchy’s was founded in Austin 16 years ago as a food trailer by Mike Rypka, who built a menu of tacos with then-experimental flavor profiles. There are now more than 100 locations across Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Torchy's signature items include tacos, served on housemade corn or flour tortillas, with an always-new Taco of the Month. There's also an award-winning Green Chile Queso that has its own following, plus margaritas and cocktails.
Menu highlights include:
- Green Chile Pork featuring pork carnitas, green chiles, and cotija cheese
- MoFaux, with plant-based, cowboy-style Beyond Beef
- Trailer Park, with fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheddar jack cheese (make it “trashy” by removing the lettuce and adding Green Chile Queso)
Breakfast Tacos are served all day, with options like The Wrangler with eggs, brisket, potato, cheese and tomatillo sauce; and Migas with eggs, tortilla strips, green chiles, avocado, pico de gallo, and cheese.
Sides include Juan’s Refried Beans, Street Corn, and guacamole.
Burleson marks the 20th location in the DFW area, and brings their tacos to a previously unexplored area in the southwest quadrant of Tarrant County.
The location comprises 4,120 square feet with an accompanying outdoor patio.
"In 2023, it’s a priority for Torchy’s to continue growing across Texas outside of our hometown in Austin," says Rypka in a statement. "Our new Burleson location will allow us to reach even more taco lovers in the area – we can’t wait to welcome our fans on February 15th for some Damn Good tacos, queso and margs!"
