New Philly cheesesteak foodtruck gets ready to rumble in Fort Worth

A new food truck serving up Philadelphia cheesesteaks is coming to Fort Worth: Called Vonte’s Philly Cheesesteaks, it will be located outside The Local Bar at 2800 Bledsoe St. #250, near West 7th Street, where it's slated to open in early March.
Vonte’s Philly Cheesesteaks comes from Davonte Fung, a cook and developer who moved to Fort Worth in 2023. He has previous food & beverage experience, although not in the cheesesteak realm. But he knows the turf, having grown up in west Philadelphia.
"It came from wanting an authentic Philly cheesesteak after traveling around for a year," Fung says. "I couldn't really find it anywhere, so I thought why not bring it to Fort Worth."
His menu will be small, featuring two main sandwich options, each served on an Amoroso roll (the prototypical Philly cheesesteak brand name straight from Philadelphia):
- Vonte’s Favorite with ribeye steak, fried onions, hot peppers, and melted provolone cheese
- Broad Street Philly with everything found on the Vonte's favorite, plus mushrooms and Cheez Whiz
Sandwiches can be ordered on an eight-inch roll for $12.50 or a foot-long roll for $16.50.
There's also a customizable option featuring choice of shaved ribeye or chicken, add-ons featuring hot or sweet peppers, mushrooms, or fried onions, ketchup and mayonnaise, and choice of cheese.
Other items include sides and snacks such as the fried Philly cheesesteak egg rolls with steak or chicken, sweet potato waffle fries and crinkle-cut fries, which can be ordered plain or loaded with shaved steak and cheese, like a Philly cheesesteak without the bun.
He'll be partnering with The Local to test out a space and audience for it first and get situated, which is also why the menu is starting out small.
"Throughout the years, I've missed that taste in every state — so I decided to open a food trailer," he says.
