Go Red for Women
Red-letter luncheon raises $800k for women's heart health in Fort Worth
What: 2024 Tarrant County Go Red for Women Luncheon
Where: Worthington Renaissance Fort Worth Hotel
The 411: Benefiting the American Heart Association's efforts to research and eradicate cardiovascular disease in women, the beloved Tarrant County luncheon marked its 20th anniversary on Friday, March 1.
Go Red co-chairs Dr. Monika Mathur and Melissa Huffman, along with honorary chair, Fort Worth mayor Mattie Parker, welcomed 500 guests for the red-letter event.
Per tradition since 2004, Go Red was more than a luncheon; it began with a "wellness expo" of sorts in the lobby, complete with champagne. Patrons used custom "passports" to journey through personal health screenings and assessments by Texas Health, hands-only CPR and AED demonstrations by Medical City Healthcare, a tribute wall that allowed guests to honor heart heroes, a puppy station that highlighted the heart-healthy benefits of spending time with animals, and more.
During the heart-healthy multicourse lunch in the ballroom, Madison Sawyer (of CBS-11) and Kristin Diaz (of KRLD-1080) emceed a program that included live entertainment, survivor stories, and awards. The highlight of the afternoon was a "fireside chat" moderated by Kidd Kraddick in The Morning’sKellie Rasberry, featuring 2023 Miss North Texas Chloe Burke and mayor Parker.
A live paddle raise helped the event bring in an impressive $800,000 and counting toward the American Heart Association's lifesaving research, education, and health impact initiatives for women. The AHA's next big Tarrant County event is Heart Ball, taking place May 4 at River Crest Country Club.
