Resolution solution
Luxe ranch teams up with Fort Worth gym for exclusive wellness retreat
If maintaining those healthy New Year's resolutions has already proven a bit challenging, here’s a fun way to get back on track.
Rocker B Ranch, a 320-acre luxury ranch destination an hour west of Fort Worth, has teamed up with Fort Worth-based Pop’s Gym to host a three-day health and fitness retreat January 11-13. Designed to inspire participants to kick-start the New Year with some health-minded intention, the wellness weekend will include rejuvenating fitness classes, peaceful meditation, nutritional education, and even clean-crafted wine and cocktails.
The lineup of health and wellness professionals ranges from fitness instructors and a registered dietitian to an exercise science expert and a nurse practitioner certified in yoga.
“We wanted to host an event that inspired participants to live healthy, balanced lives through self-love, self-discipline, fitness, and nutrition tools they can take home — and plain old fun,” says Pop’s membership coordinator and personal trainer Hannah Marion. The goal is to host two health and fitness retreats at the ranch each year, she adds.
The retreat’s flexible itinerary lets guests choose their own path to wellness. Friday night starts with an inspiring talk on loving oneself, followed by candlelit guided meditation and restorative yoga. Sessions then include goal-setting, high intensity interval training, barre, weight-lifting, and even Saturday night salsa lessons. All sessions are optional, and there are also opportunities for manis, pedis, facials, and massages at Rocker B’s on-site spa.
Guests will stay fueled with fit fare from Rocker B’s chef Elizabeth Roper, who gained her culinary training in England. Friday night’s dinner will come with a Scout & Cellar wine tasting, and there’ll be healthy cocktails before dinner on Saturday.
“Each meal will show participants how healthy eating can be delicious and fun,” says Marion. “Think coconut chicken with pineapple salsa, sopa seca with grass-fed beef, keto Mexican hot chocolate mousse, and yogurt parfaits with paleo granola. Elizabeth will also lead a hands-on cooking demonstration and guide each guest on to how to make a nutritious meal.”
Accommodations are just as elaborate. Guests can choose from their own private cabin with covered porches, king or queen suites with massive flat-screen TVs and luxury bedding, or Rocker B’s deluxe bunk room — a far cry from any college dorm, featuring an oversized granite vanity and customized bath products.
A little history on the ranch: It was purchased in 2005 by Lance and Lauren Byrd with just one dilapidated barn. The couple slowly added to the property; first a tennis court and later baseball fields, lodging, a pool, fitness center, clubhouse and spa. The ranch is available for private events.
Pricing for the health and fitness retreat ranges from $405 for a bunk in Rocker B’s “locker room” to $825 for a single occupancy king suite. Bringing friends? Mention their names in the registration process and retreat coordinators will make sure you’re close enough for pillow talk.
