New 2-in-1 hotel aims to give Arlington visitors everything they want
Tourists visiting Arlington, Texas, will get a new lodging option from an Arlington-based hotel company. Q Hotels plans to open a dual-branded property in south Arlington, at 3800 S. Collins Rd., off I-20 between George Bush Turnpike and the Parks Mall Arlington.
The hotel will be a combination of Marriott's SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites entities, which are Marriott's leading all-suites brands. They'll be combined into one building with 230 total units. There'll be 130 SpringHill Suites, for traditional hotel guests who stay one to two nights, and 100 TownePlace Suites, for extended stays.
SpringHill features contemporary design, dedicated workspaces, and in-room microwaves and fridges. TownePlace boasts a residential feel, with comfortable furnishings, full kitchens, in-room workstations, and custom closets.
Q Hotels chairman Jags Patel says in a release that the combination of the two concepts provides double the value. That'll include meeting and event space, a resort-style pool with cabanas, free breakfast, a business center, a lobby bar, banquet services, room service, and more.
"By combining two brands into one efficient building, this all-suite property will be able to offer exceptional amenities," Patel says.
Q Hotels has a pattern of operating dual brands in one building, which lets them reach both business travelers and vacationers. By sharing resources, the property can support amenities typically found only in upscale, full-service hotels.
Amenities include an event lawn and amphitheater-style entertaining space, as well as an expansive hotel ballroom, ideal for corporate events, weddings, quinceañeras, bar mitzvahs, and other celebrations.
Resort-style amenities include a fitness area, steam room, dry sauna, and restaurant with a focus on healthy eating.
The hotel will occupy a 7.4-acre site in south Arlington that's one mile from the Arlington Highlands Lifestyle Center, eight miles from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, and three-and-a-half miles south of the Arlington entertainment area that includes AT&T Stadium (Dallas Cowboys football), Globe Life Park (Texas Rangers baseball), Lone Star Park (horse racing), and Six Flags Over Texas. Construction will begin in December, with completion scheduled for summer 2018.
Since founding Q Hotels in 1990, Patel and president-CEO Viran Nana have completed more than 33 ground-up hotel projects, and have several more under development. Local Q Hotel properties include Courtyard by Marriott in Fort Worth, Fairfield Inn and Suites in Denton, and Holiday Inn Express in South Arlington.
