Trinity Railway Express stopping at the Trinity Lakes Station.
There's a stop on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) in the mid-cities that's closing, but where one stop closes, another opens.
According to a release, TRE, the commuter rail service between Fort Worth and Dallas, will close its Richland Hills Station after the end of service on Saturday, February 17.
That will be replaced by a new Trinity Railway Express station in Fort Worth: Trinity Lakes Station, located east of Loop 820 and north of Trinity Boulevard, between the current TRE Richland Hills and Bell stations.
The street address is 1539 Central Park Dr, Hurst. By car, it's about 2 miles from the soon-to-close Richland Hills station.
Service to the new Trinity Lakes Station will begin on Monday February 19.
The new station will be part of Trinity Lakes, a 1,600-acre master planned community that includes retail and residential transit-oriented development.
The Richland Hills station opened in 2000 with a parade, fanfare, and optimism that incorporated a transit-oriented development project, which sadly never happened.
In 2016, Richland Hills residents voted against continued support of Trinity Metro, resulting in the current station in Richland Hills being decommissioned.
Trinity Railway Express, or TRE, began operations in 1996 and has run between downtown Fort Worth and downtown Dallas since 2001.
