Trinity Metro temporarily takes Blue buses out of service

Trinity Metro Blue bus
Trinity Metro, the regional transportation system in Tarrant County, is temporarily removing its fleet of Blue buses from service.
According to a release, they're taking his proactive step in response to a recall issued by New Flyer, Inc., the manufacturer of the Blue Line electric buses.
The recall, which impacts certain New Flyer electric bus models manufactured between 2019 and 2025, was issued due to a potential risk of battery cell short circuits and overheating.
The New Flyer recall was prompted by a battery recall which affected about 680 vehicles and a handful of motor coaches.
Earlier this year, four of Trinity Metro’s six New Flyer electric buses underwent battery cell upgrades, which they say may have mitigated the issue.
"However, Trinity Metro is taking this extra step to confirm the impact on its buses and ensure the highest level of safety for our customers and team members," the agency says in a statement.
Interim Measures
To maintain uninterrupted service for Blue Line customers, Trinity Metro will deploy traditional buses as a temporary solution. These buses will display “Blue Line Complimentary” on the front of the bus to make them more recognizable and to continue meeting the needs of the community.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to temporarily pull our Blue Line buses from service until we can determine the impact of this recall on our vehicles,” says Trinity Metro COO Reed Lanham. “The safety of our customers and team members is our top priority, and we will continue to work closely with the manufacturer to ensure all necessary measures are taken before returning our electric buses to service. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding.”
