Shark Tank
Fort Worth's 10 hottest business startups will face off at Pitch Night
If you're a fan of Shark Tank type shows, you'll want to root for your favorite startup at a competition this week starring Fort Worth's most exciting entrepreneurs.
Called "Pitch Night," it pits 10 competitors who are vying for prize packages that include $10,000 in American dollars.
The event is part of the 2019 Fort Worth Business Plan Competition, an annual business bootcamp from the Business Assistance Center and its partners.
This year's competition has been one of the most successful in its nine-year history, with a record number of 83 applications. Those got whittled down to 30 small businesses and entrepreneurs who participated in workshops and training sessions.
Now, the top 10 competitors move on to the next round, and that much closer to a shot at one of the top three prizes.
Frost Bank – the competition’s title sponsor – is awarding $10,000 for first prize, $5,000 for second prize, and $3,000 for third prize.
There's also in-kind services for the top three winners that can help set a small business up for success such as office/co-working space, marketing, business consulting, and opportunities to engage with Fort Worth's Chambers of Commerce.
The Top 10 competitors include a buzzy biscuit company, a popular pie spot, an unusual yoga concept, and two organizations that want to help animals.
They'll all pitch their completed business plan to a panel of judges on Pitch Night on October 10 from 5:30-8:30 pm, at the MET Building on the UNT Health Science Center Campus, 3500 Camp Bowie Blvd.
Tickets to Pitch Night are free, and are currently available online.
