Dallas-Fort Worth CEO ranks among the most powerful people in the world

An influential Dallas-Fort Worth CEO has once again landed among very powerful company. Rex Tillerson, CEO of Irving-based Exxon Mobil, ranks No. 25 on Forbes' annual list of the world's most powerful people; he ranked No. 20 in 2014.
Forbes determined the list of "global elite whose actions move the planet" based on their range of impact, financial resources, and spheres of influence. Tillerson, CEO of "the world's most valuable publicly traded oil company," fits the bill.
Notes Forbes, "Tillerson presides over an operation that has generated $34 billion in net income in the past year, and paid more than $80 billion in taxes." The publication also highlights Tillerson's initiative to end the ban on exporting U.S. crude oil and his support of "lifting regulatory constraints on the building of projects to export liquefied natural gas."
The list of 73 powerhouses is dominated by political leaders and heads of corporations. One other Texan joins Tillerson on the elite list: Austin-based tech giant Michael Dell makes his debut at No. 59.
