1. Fort Worth-area pitmasters bring the heat for Hill Country BBQ festival. The small Hill Country town of Brownwood is going big for its 2026 Feels Like Home Festival, a barbecue and country music event on October 3. A first wave of 10 participating pitmasters has been revealed, including a few familiar names from the Fort Worth area.

2. Fort Worth duo unveils La Pistola restaurant and saloon in old Taco Heads. There's an exciting new restaurant from two longtime Texas hospitality veterans opening in Fort Worth. Called La Pistola Kitchen + Saloon, it'll be a restaurant-cocktail-and-wine-bar, opening in the former Taco Heads space at 1812 Montgomery St.

3. Arlington's Lincoln Square to become Anthem in $135 million makeover. Lincoln Square, the 43-year-old retail center at 1500 N. Collins St., will become Anthem after a $135 million redevelopment that will bring new shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and public gathering spaces to the complex.

4. New Keller restaurant Umzi to showcase South African cuisine and wine. A new restaurant will bring a rare taste of South Africa to Keller. Umzi Wine & Vibe will open at 444 Keller Pkwy., where it will serve South African-fusion cuisine in a warm, sophisticated setting.

Fort Worth residents can clear warrants at one-day court event

Fort Worth residents with outstanding municipal court citations will have a chance to resolve their cases without fear of arrest during an upcoming, one-day community event.

Fort Worth Municipal Court will host a Court in the Community Warrant Forgiveness event from 9 am-12 noon Saturday, August 8, at Southwest Community Center, 6300 Welch Ave.

The event will assist up to 120 people with outstanding Fort Worth citations on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the City of Fort Worth. As a "Safe Harbor" event, it allows residents with eligible outstanding citations to appear in court and address their cases without the risk of being arrested.

"They also may be eligible for alternatives such as community service or a reduction in their fine based on ability to pay," the city says.

To be clear: The event applies only to Fort Worth citations, including Class C criminal cases filed through the Municipal Court, such as traffic violations, city ordinance violations, and penal code violations issued by citation.

In addition to court services, the event will offer walk-up resources for community members, including employment and career assistance from Goodwill North Central Texas. Services will include job placement support, one-on-one career counseling, resume writing assistance, interview preparation, and job search training.

The City of Fort Worth's EnVision Center will also be on-site with its EnCAP program, which provides tuition assistance for short-term training, financial education, employment support, and resources designed to help residents build job skills and pursue financial stability.
