Stretch and sweat at these 8 outdoor fall fitness classes in Fort Worth

Grab a water bottle and skip the gym, because there’s more opportunity than ever to exercise out and about town. Cooler temps make outdoor classes a little more tolerable, and new formats like puppy yoga add to the fun. Here’s a look at the fun and unique fitness events happening this fall — many that come with food and drinks to refuel and rehydrate when done.
Sunset Yoga in Sundance Square
Strengthen and stretch with free fall yoga every Tuesday evening in Sundance Square. All levels are invited to participate upcoming classes, October 2 through November 6. There’s a different form of entertainment each week, like ukulele music, classical Spanish guitar, and even a mariachi band. Class begins at 6:30 pm, and participants should bring their own mat.
Barre O'Clock Fitness Class at The Shops at Clearfork
Each Tuesday from October 2-23, instructors from The Dailey Method Barre & Cycle Studio host a complimentary outdoor barre class on The Plaza by the windmill at The Shops at Clearfork development. The Dailey Method combines ballet, barre work, core condition, and muscle strengthening to help you create a long, lean sculpted body. The 7 pm classes are BYO mat and water bottle, and you can refill your water at the Simon Guest Services booth located in between Tiffany & Co. and B&B Butchers and Restaurant.
Puppies & Yoga at Legal Draft Beer Co.
Puppies are the new goats when it comes to yoga. Share your mat with four-legged furry friends at this playful class, set to take place inside Arlington’s Legal Draft Beer Co. on October 6. The event will benefit the Humane Society of North Texas, and the puppies will be available for adoption after class. The $25 ticket includes the class, to be taught by instructors from the Arlington Yoga Center, and a draft beer. Reserve your spot in advance, arrive by 10 am, and bring your own mat.
Yoga at the Woodshed
The first Saturday of the month means it’s time for yoga on the patio of Tim Love’s riverfront restaurant on October 6. Taught by instructors from PT Fitness, the hour-long class is only $10 and proceeds this month will benefit SafeHaven of Tarrant County. (There’s a different beneficiary each month.) Class begins at 8 am, and tickets should be purchased in advance. Plan to stay after class for half-price breakfast — a special only for yoga participants. Don’t forget to bring your own mat.
Yoga & Brunch at Pinstripes Fort Worth
Sip and Namaste for brunch, bowling and bocce on October 7. The Sunday morning yoga class — hosted by Core Power Yoga — is held once a month at 9 am. The $5 class fee includes a complimentary mimosa as well as $5 off Pinstripes’ Sunday brunch buffet (normally $22 per person). The brunch buffet is open from 10 am-to 2 pm.
Sweat N Sip at Varsity Tavern
There are two dates left this year — October 13 and November 10 — for boot camp and brunch on the patio of Varsity Tavern. Hosted by TruFit, the hour-long sweat session is good for all fitness levels. Refuel after class with a brunch dish and rehydrate with two mimosas, all included in the $30 event price.
Cork & Pig Run & Brunch
Banana pancakes are included in this Saturday, October 27 morning social run-event, which starts with a leisurely 5K over the West Seventh Street bridge and through the heart of Crockett Row, then ends with patio brunch at Cork & Pig complete with a mimosa bar. The $35 registration fee (through October 25) includes drinks, brunch, photos and a T-shirt. Registration will be $40 on the day of the event. The run begins at 9 am.
Puppy Yoga at Arlington Backyard
Downward dog takes on new meaning when puppies can join in the fun. The November 3 class — hosted by Arlington Yoga Center — will take place at the Arlington Backyard event venue space inside the hot new Texas Live entertainment complex. Tickets are $25 and proceeds benefit the Humane Society of North Texas, who’ll be on site to host pet adoptions. Participants will receive 15 percent off any food purchase after class. The family-friendly event begins at 12 pm. Bring your own yoga mat.
