The City of Haltom City will commemorate its 75th anniversary with the grand reopening of its newly renovated North Park.

There'll be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the park, located at 5220 Denton Hwy., on Saturday, June 7, at 10 am. Expect festivities, live music, food trucks, bounce houses, and giveaways.

The revitalized 56-acre North Park has been redesigned to serve as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike. New and improved amenities include

• 4-acre fishing pond with a pier
• walking trails
• native landscaping
• modern playground and pavilion
• amphitheater
• 36-hole disc golf course
• softball field

That is some renovation, but it doesn't stop there: The park also features upgraded parking areas and restroom facilities.

The North Park improvements were guided by community feedback collected through the 2019 Parks and Open Space Master Plan, where the park’s redevelopment, specifically the addition of a fishing pier, emerged as a top priority for citizens.

This data supported the city’s successful application for a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department matching grant, which provided $750,000 toward the project’s total cost of approximately $4 million.

“This renovation represents not only an investment in our park system but a partnership with the community and state to build something truly lasting,” said An Truong, Haltom City Mayor. “It’s an example of what can be accomplished when planning, vision, and citizen input come together.”

And now for some Haltom City history: It was originally established in 1932 as Haltom Village, named after G.W. Haltom, a Fort Worth jeweler whose family ranch once covered much of the area. The city officially incorporated on July 5, 1950, and has since grown to include surrounding areas, including what remained of Birdville, the original Tarrant County seat.
