An indoor golf facility called Stiks has opened 910 S. Blue Mound Rd. in Saginaw. It's a PGA-recognized facility that gives golfers a place to play and practice.

The facility is from Steve Storey and Tyler Kuhn, graduates of New Mexico State University's PGA Golf Management program who are certified PGA instructors.

"We have taught more 20,000 lessons that cover all aspects of the game including putting, around the green, full swing, and on-course playing lessons," the duo says.

They also both play competitive professional golf across the country in PGA events.

The facility features:

• six Foresight simulator bays featuring five GC Falcons and 1 GC QuadMAX Launch Monitor — ideal for speed training and dialing-in the putter
• 1,100-square-foot short game area with up to 40-foot putts to work on putting, chipping, and short wedges
• lounge space with TVs to hang out with members, family, or host a special event like a fantasy football draft or office Christmas party
• Events for members including weekly league tournaments and special events such as Masters watch parties, Par 3 tournaments, and member/guest tournaments

A one-hour practice session is $150. Members typically pay less than $15/hour to practice and play on the simulators. There is a membership that allows unlimited access to the facility. Rates can be found at www.s2golfacademy.com.

You must bring your own clubs since they do not have clubs for rent.

The facility is open 24-7, 365 days a year. So for example, that could be 2 am, if you are so inclined. "Our busiest times are 6 pm to 6 am," Storey says.

He and Storey offer lessons six days a week with flexible hours. The teaching starts with an Initial Evaluation where you get videotaped so you see what you are doing.

"We teach outside at Fossil Creek when the weather is nice, and we teach inside when it's too windy, wet, cold, hot, or dark," Storey says.

This gets to one of the benefits of their facility: You can still play when the weather is bad.

They say they will also have play days on real courses for members, and the potential for traveling to Mexico or Las Vegas to play in a Pro-Am with one of their pros.
