Arlington Museum of Art presents "Dressed for the Drawing Room: Fashion in Jane Austen’s World" opening day
The Arlington Museum of Art’s latest exhibition, "Dressed for the Drawing Room: Fashion in Jane Austen’s World," celebrates the 250th birthday of one of the most beloved writers of all time: Jane Austen. The exhibition will feature costumes and jewelry from film adaptations of two of Austen’s most iconic works: Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Emma (2020), immersing visitors in the elegant, expressive, and often politically charged world of fashion during the Regency era. The exhibition will remain on display through March 22.
Magnolia at the Modern: Father Mother Sister Brother
Father Mother Sister Brother is a feature film, though carefully constructed in the form of a triptych. The three stories all concern the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents), and each other. Each of the three chapters takes place in the present, and each in a different country. The film, written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, includes performances by Mayim Bialik, Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, Charlotte Rampling, Vicki Krieps, and Tom Waits. There will be seven screenings through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Theatre Arlington presents AMON! The Ultimate Texan
Written by local newspaper columnist Dave Lieber and starring Kelvin Dilks as the larger-than-life Amon Carter, AMON! The Ultimate Texan is a true-to-life production that celebrates the wit, vision, and unstoppable spirit of the man often called “Mr. Fort Worth.” Through quick-fire humor, powerful storytelling, and a few of Carter’s own tall tales, audiences meet a Texas original who refused to think small - about his city, his state, or himself. There will be four performances through Sunday at Theatre Arlington.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents "The Sounds of Paris"
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra's first concert of the year, "The Sounds of Paris," will feature a quartet of works from composers who were inspired by the City of Lights, whether or not they grew up there. Selections will include Debussy's La mer, Ravel’s Pavane for a Dead Princess, Berlioz’ “Love Scene” from Romeo and Juliet, and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert, conducted by Robert Spano and featuring pianist Pedja Mužijević, will have three performances through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall.
