This week in gluttony
These are the 7 best food and drink events in Fort Worth this week

Mardi Gras is officially this Tuesday and Wednesday is Texas Independence Day. There are events celebrating each this week, along with a wine tasting, whiskey tasting, and fun brunches by week’s end. Let the good times roll.
Tuesday, March 1
Mardi Gras at Harvest Hall
Collect beads from any of the seven chef-driven kitchens at this Grapevine food hall, where Mardi Gras special dishes will include crawfish hand pies, king cake lattes, and half-priced hurricanes. Look for live Zydeco music and Fat Tuesday fun on the plaza.
BBQ & Wine + Wild West Trivia at Landon Winery
Texas barbecue and Texas wine go hand-in-hand, and this tasting event at the Grapevine winery will showcase the bold flavors of each. Guests will taste an array of Landon wines paired with barbecue by Bold BBQ Pit and can participate in a Wild West-themed trivia tournament while they’re at it. Tickets are $35 per person, and the tasting begins at 6:30 pm.
Wednesday, March 2
TX Whiskey Celebrates Texas Independence Day
Visit the Texas-sized distillery for a Texas-sized celebration. Festivities will include custom hat shaping, custom boot fitting and boot shining, live music, barbecue, and even armadillo racing. Also, be one of the first to get the limited-edition Texas flag bottle of TX Whiskey, which comes with free engraving. Tickets are $10 each and includes your first cocktail. The celebration will run from 6-9 pm.
Thursday, March 3
Taste of Southlake at Cambria Hotel Southlake
Civic organization Leadership Southlake 2022 is hosting an evening of local fare promoting Southlake-area restaurants. Participating eateries include HG Sply Co, Kirby Steakhouse, Pokeworks, Sky Creek, Perry's, Jane, Loveria Caffe, and more. Tickets are $40 per adult or $50 per couple, so it seems advisable to find a partner you can couple with. The tasting runs from 5-8:30 pm, and you can buy tickets online.
Teeling Whiskey Tasting at Magnum
Visit the swanky, hidden speakeasy at Hotel Vin in downtown Grapevine for this craft Irish whiskey tasting featuring the first distillery to open in Dublin in more than 125 years. Guests will sip Teeling single grain, single malt, and single pot still whiskeys — and learn what the lingo means while they’re at it. Tickets are $45 per person and the tasting start at 6 pm.
Saturday, March 5
2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off at Divison Brewery
Arlington's locally owned and operated brewery is hosting a chili competition featuring 15 contestants who will face off for the best chili. One proviso: The chili must contain at least 16 ounces of Division beer. The winner gets a grand prize of $100 plus Division merchandise packs. Attendees can sample the chili and cast their vote in a People's Choice award. Oh, and also drink Division beer. The event starts at 10 am and ends at 3 pm.
Run and Brunch at HG Sply Co.
Start the weekend with a 5K social run (meaning untimed and leisurely) followed by brunch on the HG Sply Co. patio. The $45 price includes a plated breakfast of eggs, sweet potato hash, bacon, toast, jam, salad, and mimosas along with a run shirt or hat. The run begins at 9 am.
